What's sad is that we would even NEED to use a proxy server. It shouldn't matter who we are or where we are; we shouldn't have to protect ourselves from fellow enthusiasts. But here's my storey for the day:
When Radio Yellowknife first started up, the Rodent Revulsion crew traced a server address to someplace in the NWT. (Northern Canada) Since I was at that time the only visible NWT pirate enthusiast it appeared to them that I must be radio YK. Heaven forbid there could be more then one enthusiast per province or state. I guess that means that there most only be one enthusiast in, say, Virginia.  Now in the great scheme of things it shouldn't matter, but since they were hoping to dominate the pirate radio relay service with a 10 watt transmitter from the East Coast I as Radio YK was perceived as a threat. They researched me through Googling my name and callsign and gleefully acted as if they had found the Holy Grail. Remember the posting for Arctic Arab Radio last year? It didn't exist, never happened. What DID happen was they found my eBay ID was Arctic Arab, posted that as a way to intimidate me with the supposed huge quantity of personal info they had on me, then sent me harrassing emails gloating about it. Same thing with references about playing bass in High School. They found I was in a radio club and emailed THEM to shut me down. I didn't know what was going on until Radio YK contacted me to inform me that they had been receiving emails addressed to me. That was when it sank in that there was a case of mistaken identity going on. It took a fair bit to get them to leave me alone, but then again, I shouldn't HAVE to get them to fook off. We're supposed to be in this together.
So there; be warned. There are lunatics on the internet with no life but lots of time and lots of sock puppet I.D.'s  and nothing to do but bother other people. All the while bravely hiding behind proxy servers and reinventing history by writing on another site about how THEY had been done wrong. The great pirate war of 2011? Bite me.

If this becomes law in some of the northeast states there's gonna be some sweaty  sock puppets!

Got one here, as well. That's pretty broad coverage. Looks like The Poet will be reaching a newer, larger audience.

Got fairly strong here but not as steady as in days previous. Nice clear I.D. of "This is Northern Relay Service and The Crystal Ship". Mention of John Poet. Fan-freakin'-tastic to hear the two most original characters in pirate radio today workin' together. They must be going insane in the ol' Coney Hatch tonight! No, Coney Hatch is not JUST a good old Canadian band. Look it up.

I can only toss my experience and interests into the pool and see if it corelates with the general public.
I started listening to SW as a pre-teen in the early '70's. This was because I was growing up in a tiny mining town in the arctic, and there was not much else to listen to. One day in the basement I found an old transistor portable that my Dad had and tried it. My first two stations were Hilversum, Holland and The United Arab Emerites. Freakin' amazing! Here was new music and news I had never experienced before. I was hooked. I soon obtained a Hammarlund HQ-110A and would spend all of my spare time tuning the world. News broadcast were of particular interest. Tropical band DXing and South America brought in brilliant music and insane D.J.'s. Then spy numbers, then pirates. I listened to US military traffic talking about a fatal helicopter crash as it happened, a day before it hit the news. I obtained emergency air transport for a stranded research crew in the high arctic. And so much other stuff it would take a book to list. Heck, I was even singled out by a lunatic rodent broadcaster for harrassment when he mistook me for someone else.

Strong S-5 signal on a noisy band tonight. Ramones "We want The Airwaves" into a nice ad for HFU.
Always a pleasure to hear!

Caught the end of the show with James Bond theme. OM and YL gave I.D. several times. "we hope you enjoyed the show..." and "W-P-O-D, White Punks On Dope". Then into RTN.
My first ever reception of WPOD! Thanks, hope to hear more of you!!!

Have Renegade Radio strong into Northern Canada tonight. Solid S-7 signal with QRN and QSB. Caught a song, male chat with I.D. "punk rock show", then into another song. First time I've heard you! Hope to hear you again.
PSE QSL!

I remember going months without hearing ANY pirate activity. Yet in the last year since the rodents have crawled back in their holes I've been hearing at least one station each week. Some weeks there's stations on EVERY night. As I write this NRS and RTN are freakin' BLASTING in here with diverse, interesting programming. These are truely good times to be a pirate enthusiast.
***Update***After I wrote this Renegade Radio also came on with a great signal. Three quality pirates in one night! Received beautiful QSL's from Northern Relay Service and Renegade Radio within 12 hours.

Typical crushing signal here. Talk on economics. Not a lot of highs on audio but solid copy due to strong signal. Always a pleasure to hear an old friend!
