So, my hopes were dashed, it's not plug and play, I'm going to have to make some adjustments. I e-mailed the manufacturer for his recommendations, which I'm confident will get me up and running. I'm going to be running the afedri directly into the ethernet plug on my imac.
Here's my current imac's settings:
Ethernet ip address: 192.168.1.110
Subnet mask ip address: 255.255.255.0
Router ip address: 192.168.1.1 (not that this matters as im not going through the modem).
The afedri settings:
Ip address: 192.168.0.8
Sdr ip mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway ip address: 192.168.0.1
Destination ip address: 192.168.0.1
Chris brought up the option of changing the ip addresses on my mac and modem. I dont really want to mess with those as my puter is working, and if I start messing with it, it'll never work again, LOL. But I think Chris hit the nail on the head when he recommended I change the destination ip address of the afedri (192.168.0.1) to match the ethernet ip address of my imac, 192.168.1.110. I'm wondering if I also have to change the afedri's gateway Ip address also, as they currently match.
I don't have a pc, and the afedri control software is only pc compatible. I'm reluctant to ask a friend if I can install the control software on their pc, so I may bite the bullet and buy a laptop. I know that I want to avoid windows 8, and windows 7, 32 bit is preferable. Dell has some models that fit the bill, but I'm open to suggestions on other makes and models.
Ok, just thought I'd keep everyone up to date on my progress as I know some others on the board were considering sdr purchases, and some of us like our Mac's.
