Good signal from Doctor Benway, S7 in New Hampshire

Live show from the doctor, saying Happy New Year to all us listeners.  Talking about trying to inspire other stations to get on 1720 kHz and all the PRB and RFW relays he's done on the frequency during the past couple of weeks.

Thanks for the remarks on you experiences on 1710.  I was curious of whether your operation there resulted in getting some emails from listeners outside of the normal pirate radio enthusiasts.

Here's a couple of links to HQ-180 pix.

   Nice pix of the topside:

This entry in a restoration blog includes some nice pix of the underside:

You can see on that last underside picture how accessible everything is.

The HQ-180 has the advantage of being relatively simple and lightweight with wide-open construction making it easy to work on.

If you have a bit of a budget and you want something more typical of an earlier age you should think about the Collins 51J-4 (or R388, the military version).  If you do some Googling you'll find lots of info including update and restoration tips.

Radio Bluebird from the Netherlands was putting a great signal into New Hampshire on Christmas Evening.  The signal was S4-S6 with little fading and not much splatter from the US broadcast stations above and below.
