Hearing pescadores peskies Brazilian (presumed) fishing fleets chatting away with some very strong signals tonight....some stations S5-S6 signal strength with others pushing past S9.  Very strong signals.  Usually when the guys on 6925 LSB are coming in this loud, there's other frequencies active...but the the band seems pretty quiet save for the Spanish voices on 6900 LSB and they're there almost 24/7.

2253 UTC - pescadore QRM from 6929 kHz LSB getting worse and worse

76 years ago today

2351 UTC - Fair to poor copy (locally and on OH based remote SDR receiver)

Hearing another Spanish language QSO, although much weaker than what was heard only a little bit earlier tonight on 6955 USB, on 6950 USB.  These guys are all over the band tonight!

After several frequency changes, I think they've settled on 6940 kHz USB.

Very strong signal, easily pushing past S9

2257 UTC - N.W.A. track with sporadic SSB pescadore chatter QRM
2340 UTC - data QRM is getting stronger and stronger
2349 UTC - ID x3 and then off

6955 kHz 6.955 MHz
6955 USB pirate frequency

Spanish language QSO, freebanders having a very informal chatter (lots of Spanish language curse words, mention of "20 kilos" at 2239 UTC), then a mention of "3:30" (as in the time).  Seems like there's two stations talking, but only one of them is really strong enough to get any sort of copy.  S5-S7 signal with nice modulation.  A third (I think) station broke into the QSO at 2240 UTC.  Still going strong at 2241 UTC.

Reminds me of the 6900 kHz LSB Spanish radio net, but these guys are using 6955 kHz USB.

In addition to the usual 6925 kHz LSB pescadores, 6919 kHz LSB is now active with Portuguese language traffic.  Just barely there, but this frequency is just as well-known and often just as active as 6925 LSB.

Lots of QRM and noise...hearing OM talking "hello...test...hello radio" at 0047 UTC

0048 UTC - ID but missed it, maybe "Crazy Radio" - OM heard talking "not too shabby" "could use a little more work"
0048 UTC - K U N T Radio ID heard
0049 UTC - "hellooooooooo" "helloooooo" audio checks, talking about compression and audio settings
0049 UTC - utility screeches making copy difficult...can make out OM's words
0050 UTC - KUNT radio, University of Texas..."pirate band"
0050 UTC - considerably louder ID this time, "KUNT Raddiiooooooo"
0052 UTC - ute data bursts are getting stronger...unable to copy KUNT (or no longer transmitting?)
0053 UTC - test carriers being transmitted on 6925.0 kHz
0056 UTC - tuned back to 6925 kHz and KUNT appears to be off the air

6905 kHz 6.905 MHz

6905 kHz LSB 6905 LSB - Alternate frequency for 43 meter band Spanish speaking SS language calling frequency 6900 kHz 6.9 MHz 6.900 MHz is also quite active tonight.  Hearing two stations talking at once, one of them is pushing S9 on the meter while the other may even be jamming the other one, its difficult to say.  Heavy use of 5 kHz steps plus or minus from 6900 kHz (often 6895 kHz or 6910 kHz will be active as well as 6900 kHz or 6905 kHz when the band is open.  At 0044 UTC, a new station checked in and gave signal reports...most operators referring to each other by first names....no numerical callsigns or IDs "handles" heard.

Utility / 4030 kHz USB HF-SSB Marine Chatter - 2300 UTC 6 Dec 2017
« on: December 06, 2017, 2302 UTC »
Hearing one side of a maritime mobile HF radio QSO on 4030 kHz USB at 2300 UTC.   OM talking about having "way too much gear".  Music can be heard playing in the background.  Very informal.  Talking about plans for the holidays.  Occasional profanity.  Not hearing the other side of the conversation.  The 4000 kHz to 4063 kHz sub-band is supposed to be simplex only so its likely that propagation isn't working with me 100%.

At 2302 UTC, OM asked other station if he was going to be "hanging out here tonight" or was going to going elsewhere.  Signed off shortly after, still at 2302 UTC, but requested other station to "meet me back up here later, good luck".

Lots of QRM on the pescadore "watering hole" (or dare I say, calling frequency) of 6925 kHz, LSB mode today.  Some splatter onto 6925 USB as well.
