Possibly military traffic.  Maybe training.  Hearing similar traffic on 8940 kHz USB, 8957 kHz USB, 8996 kHz USB and 9004 kHz USB.

The traffic on 8989 kHz USB is in Spanish, and is a single station reading a long series of terms, repeating "Pablo" over and over again.  Similar traffic on the other frequencies listed.  I have a feeling these are military training nets, but they could easily be freebanders, especially when you consider that they have been logged on similar 8 MHz frequencies lately.

The band is alive today!  This may be the station(s) briefly heard on 6874 kHz USB.  6882 USB, 6900 LSB, 6900 USB and 6905 LSB continue to remain active as of 1335 UTC and now 6866.6 kHz USB.  Another easy-to-remember frequency.  Poor signals so maybe it not the strong traffic heard on 6874 USB.

1336 UTC - "4747" heard, not sure if its a frequency or ID.  "5858" then heard.  Not sure what these numbers mean, or if the ID is actually "47" and/or "58" and they are simply repeating them twice due to poor conditions.
1337 UTC - stronger signal came on "its okay, its okay" possibly giving signal reports?

1328 UTC - mention of "11 metros" (11 meters) indicating that these operators use those frequencies as well.  Discussing propagation conditions on 11 meters
1329 UTC - another station checks into the ragchew net, possible QSY from 6900 LSB due to heavy QRM there.
1330 UTC - Mention of Baja California.

6900 kHz USB

In addition to the primary frequency of 6900 kHz LSB, 6900 kHz USB also has Spanish language chatter on it this morning.  Due to the mystery carrier often seen on 6900.0 kHz (likely a spur), you can listen to the freebanders in AM mode today!    ;D

Mixing in with all sorts of other stuff (some of which I think is local), there's the usual Spanish language chatter Spanish ragchew net 6900 kHz LSB going strong this morning (eastern US time) 1300+ UTC Zulu time.  Very tough copy due to QRM.

Hearing Spanish language chatter right above the noise floor at 6882 kHz USB this morning.  Heavy ute "rushing" QRM making copy very difficult but they are there.  Hearing "hola! hola! hola!" which indicates its likely another freebander net Spanish ragchew net.

834
Hearing a QSO in Spanish, very informal (sounds like some pescadores...no really!) except this time, they're actually operating within the legal 4 MHz maritime SSB band 4MHz marine band frequencies.  Otherwise, I would put this in the "peskies" forum...but since they're operating in the legal band, I put it in Utility.

Always cool to hear marine traffic in the legal marine bands :D

Spanish Language Freeband Frequency
6.9 MHz
6900 kHz 6.900 MHz LSB mode

Our friends on 6900 LSB are back in action!  6900 kHz LSB (6.900 MHz LSB) is the primary frequency for the Americas for "freebanders" or "outbanders" operating below the bottom edge of the 40 meter amateur band.  The 6700 to 7000 kHz frequency range is commonly known as "43 meters".  Right now (0109 UTC) there is a very strong (S5-S6) signal in Spanish language booming, sounds like the de facto net control station.  Roundtable ragchew net informal rag chew net 6900 kHz 6.900 MHz with stations checking in to the net, giving comments and signal reports...then joining the informal conversation.

6900 kHz is heard almost nightly.  Sometimes 6900 kHz LSB and 6900 kHz USB are heard at the same time.  Stations will QSY plus or minus 5 kHz to 6895 kHz, 6905 kHz, etc, after establishing initial contact on 6900 kHz LSB.  It's functional equivalent is 27.555 MHz USB 27555 kHz USB for the 11 meter band.

Hearing weak Portuguese voices on 6940 kHz LSB, first heard around 0100 UTC.  Not nearly as loud as the traffic on 6925 kHz LSB was roughly an hour ago...but still there.

Heard almost daily in the evening/nighttime hours, and sometimes in the mornings and during the daytime as well.  Several stations having casual QSOs, SIO 222 at the moment, have been going since at least 0000z 20/OCT/2017

UNID transmissions, possible bootleg traffic.
Frequency: 8944.5 kHz 8.944.5 MHz 8.9445 MHz
Mode: USB
Time: 2136 UTC / 2136z
Date: 19-OCT-2017

UNID traffic, putting it here since it has an "informal" feel to it.  I think its Portuguese, but due to weak signal I can't confirm that.

Originally thought they were using 8945 kHz USB but it is in fact 8944.5 kHz USB.
