Started around 1530 UTC with several different stations tuning up on either 6765 kHz or 6766 kHz (in USB mode, likely a 1000Hz tone on top of USB signal).

Weekly SHARES North Coordination Net radio checks, standard operating procedure in SSB / USB voice only as of 1541 UTC, no MT63 digital mode seen/heard yet.  Several stations with various callsign formats checking in into net.

6880 AM on the air with 10-12 kHz wide AM audio on peaks on the NY remotes.

There seems to be some sort of data QRM on 6879 kHz or so that is making listening difficult, at 1628 UTC, signal now gone from NY remote SDR receivers (and was never recievable locally)...weaker signal on other remote receivers...one in Indiana is just showing a faint carrier on 6880 kHz, others nothing at all.

Usually I can hear this station very well, armchair copy or close to it, on both my local receivers and the various Internet receivers/remote SDRs.

Hearing Spanish language QSOs on 6800 kHz USB, 6810 kHz USB, and 6820 kHz USB.  All with similar signal strength.  Similar net operation to traffic heard in the 6900-7000 kHz range, only these guys are lower in frequency, the 6800-7000 kHz area seems to be a big favorite (after all, when you make your own frequency steps...there are more or less unlimited "channels" available").

Since I came across these QSOs all at once I figured I would post them in the same log.  The consistency with frequency spacing or channel steps or channel spacing and mode (everybody in USB!) leads me to believe that these three QSOs are related.

6800 kHz USB - Spanish language
6810 kHz USB - Spanish language

Seems like there are several stations and they may be off-frequency.  Closer to 6860 kHz USB but the one I'm listening to right now (1340 UTC) sounds best on 6859.5 kHz USB mode.  So maybe that is their frequency, or maybe 6859.6?  Usually there's some sort of method to their madness (or madness in their method).

I put 6859.5 kHz in the thread title because that seems to be the best frequency for actually tuning these guys in.  Minor QRM from nearby chatter.  SIO 222.

Hearing Portuguese language chatter at 1338 UTC on 6838 kHz USB, seems to be some Spanish QRM mixing in there as well.

It seems like after I noticed activity on 6905 kHz LSB, 6900 kHz LSB came alive as well.  Possibly stations QSY'ed from 6905 LSB.  Not sure.  Informal "net" like communications, very similar to HF amateur radio operator procedures except these guys are are on 6.9 MHz and not the 7 MHz band.

Noticing several other frequencies popping up with two way chatter, including 6905 kHz LSB, 6876 kHz LSB, 6850 kHz LSB, and 6860 kHz USB.

Hearing some weak Spanish language chatter on one of the usual 43 meter band outbander or freeband frequencies, 6905 kHz / 6.905 MHz.  Likely freebanders going by frequency choice and chatter

Hearing a YL and an OM talking on 8995.5 kHz USB, sounds like a telephone or telephone-like conversation, possibly a phone patch.  Noticed while listening to EAM on USAF frequency 8992 kHz USB.

Hearing Portuguese voices on 6925 kHz LSB, band is relatively quiet tonight...but the 6925 LSB crew is chatting away.  SIO 111 due to weak signals and thunderstorm static.

SHARES Frequency List
SHARES Frequencies List
SHARES HF-SSB Frequencies
Emergency Management HF Frequency List

SHARES is a multi-agency system that used frequencies assigned to several different agencies and organizations.  It conducts weekly radio check nets every Wednesday at 1600 UTC on 6765 USB, 6845 USB and 6910 USB (and likely other frequencies at other times).

Since these frequencies are of interest to utility monitors and are often heard, I wanted to compile a list of frequencies in use:

All frequencies are "dial frequencies" in USB mode, transmissions made in USB voice and MT63 digital mode.  There are apparently other 5 MHz band frequencies in use, including ones that match up with 60 meter amateur band channels.   Frequencies with associated notes are frequencies noted in use by myself (confirmed usage and remarks).

SHARES Region 6
SHARES Central Region Net
SHARES Central Regional Net 6910 USB

6765 USB and 6845 USB are both very active (listening to both frequencies starting at 1600 UTC, it is now 1630 UTC).  6910 USB is another known SHARES frequency, although it is extremely weak - 6765 USB and 6845 USB are both very strong at this time.  Previous traffic on this frequency has indicated use in Southeast USA for Hurricane Harvey relief efforts and for weekly radio check and training nets (all three frequencies active at the same time with several stations checking into multiple nets).

Logging this frequency as being active to note 6765 kHz USB and 6845 kHz USB all active at once.

SHARES Emergency Management Region  Coordination Net / SHARES Northern Region net 1600+ UTC
6765 kHz 6.765 MHz
USB voice heard (presumed use of MT63 digital for data transfer)

Several stations switching between SHARES North and SHARES Northeast Coordination nets (6845 kHz USB and 6765 kHz USB), for example station KGG83A out of Virginia checked into Northeast net on 6845 USB and then immediately went down to 6765 USB to check into SHARES Northern Coordination Net.

1623 UTC - NNE5PY net control NC station calling for additional stations at 1623 UTC, handing off NC
1624 UTC - Net control handed off to A5BK - NNA5BK, requesting any MARS or SHARES station, any section, any area
1625 UTC - MT63 1000Hz long, wait (digital mode transmission by net control)
1626 UTC - back to voice, net control making additional calls for any station from any area (same procedure as net on 6845 USB)
1700 UTC - net control station mention of SHARES net operator in Puerto Rico operating from solar battery power
1700 UTC - SHARES North NNA5PY and NNA5PK "the net is closed, the net is closed, over"
1701 UTC - 499152 numeric callsign working net control
1702 UTC - net control continuing QSO (even though net is closed)
1702 UTC - net actually closed now?  (nothing heard)

1648 UTC - NCS042 ID "about 30 miles north of New York City"
1648 UTC - NNX3YT states no copy of MT63 traffic, net control brushes him off and says "that's fine"
1649 UTC - AAR3RF checking into net, informs net control that he may need to check the times on his messages
1650 UTC - AFA3UE resuming net control, taking net control until close of net at 1700, now have 22 stations checked in
1650 UTC - AFA3UE and NCS042 transmitting over each other, followed by AFA3UE/NC requesting relays

Hearing faint Spanish language traffic on another 25 meter shortwave broadcast band (11600-12100 kHz officially, with several stations operating above and below those "limits").  Very faint traffic heard but I imagine this is another fishing fleet "hiding" themselves in the shortwave broadcast bands.

11702 kHz USB, 11802 kHz USB and others have been logged in the past...11607 kHz USB fits in this "pattern"
