***EDIT***

Originally titled "6790 kHz USB Spanish Language - Possible Phone Patch 2213 UTC 1 Oct 2017" I have modified the title of this thread due to the new information provided by FFM and the extensive research they have conducted.

6790 kHz USB 6.790 MHz USB 6.79 MHz
Spanish language SS speak SS OM/YL Spanish language Spanish voices

Radiotelephone, phone patch, village radio, OM and YL - likely husband and wife having a QSO...

Tuned in at 2213 UTC, was still going at 2218 UTC.  Poor copy.

Possible telephone patch or phone patch-like or radiotelephone link.  Hearing what sounds like a husband and wife talking on 6790 kHz USB.  Possibly a full duplex QSO and I'm hearing the "base station" side of the conversation as at several points the OM and YL are talking over each other.  Casual conversation but this is not two different stations using simplex.  It's one signal with two voice channels being transmitted at once on the same frequency...I have logged several of these oddities in the 67xx and 68xx kHz ranges (6700-6900 kHz roughly) before.  Always in Spanish and always have the same characteristics....usually an OM talking to a YL and possibly children, one transmitter...consistent signal strength.

Naturally, this signal is quite weak.  SIO 111 or so.  I can confirm that its Spanish and that its a OM and YL talking and its the same transmitter...but that's it.

Faint Spanish voices heard near the bottom edge of the 40 meter ham band.  Very minor data QRM nearby.  I have logged 6985 kHz USB several times, but I don't show 6983 kHz anywhere in the logs so this may be a new one for me.  I know that means very little, since these guys literally pick a frequency and go but hey...

SIO 111

EDIT:  At 2113 UTC, a very strong data burst on 6981 kHz USB (possibly ALE sounding?) obliterated the two-way pirate bootleg freebander freebanding QSO going on on 6983 USB.

As the band "wakes up" (just past 2100 UTC, posting this at 2105 UTC), and the "usual suspects" pescadore communications frequencies (6925 kHz LSB, 6933 kHz LSB, etc) start to become active...I dropped down to 6900 kHz LSB and notice the other usual suspect..the North American (and South American...and Central American...) 43 meter freeband frequency for Spanish language speaking stations.

Several stations checking into net, giving numerical and first-name-only "IDs" or callsigns (more like CB-like "handles" in this context).  Signal reports exchanged, sounds like ham radio operators giving each other "73s" and all that stuff.  Stations discussing band conditions across HF, signal reports (at 2106 UTC and 2107 UTC) and more stations talking over each other.  Have not been able to ID the "net control" station (there sometimes isn't one, after all).

Looks like this frequency will be busy tonight.  Another station IDed as "mobile" at 2109 UTC and a second station confirmed "strong" signals coming from this station.

Just as the 6933 kHz LSB crowd shows up, 6925 LSB seems to "wake up" as well (2100 UTC).  The peskies are out and about tonight.

Hearing Portuguese chatter on 6880 USB at 2050 UTC on 01-OCT-2017.  6880 kHz has become, over the past few months, a fairly common pirate broadcaster frequency...but it is also popular with the "peskies" or "peskys" (pescadores - that is, fishing fleets, fishery radios, illegal bootleg fishing fleet communications, fishing boat radio, HF marine radio operating out of band, etc).  The Portuguese speaking radio nets seem to like to use "cute" or "easy to remember" frequencies, and, while they tend to like LSB mode, have been heard using USB as well.

« on: October 01, 2017, 1401 UTC »
01-OCTOBER-2017

Frequency: 6905 kHz 6.905 MHz
Mode: LSB
Language: Spanish
Presumed Users/Use: Freeband or "outband" illegal amateur radio-like two-way communications, likely done by hobbyists.  Usually in Spanish, and often with Mexican accents, the source or purpose of these transmissions is not entirely known.

SIO 222, lots of noise this morning but can hear Spanish language nets active on 6905 LSB.  6900 kHz seems to be quiet (at least for now), 6905 kHz is a known "alternate" frequency for the primary 6900 kHz 6.9 MHz 6.900 MHz frequency where Spanish voices are often heard.

UNID pirate station
IDed at 2043 UTC as "Space Bunny Radio"
Frequency: 6880 kHz 6.880 MHz 6.88 MHz

Strong and wide AM audio with severe deep fades at 1505 UTC tune in.  Seems like the "daytime guy" sometimes heard on 6925 kHz AM.  6880.0 kHz seems to be one of the more commonly used "alternate" frequencies to 6925 kHz.

Hearing some faint Spanish language two-way chatter in the middle of the 60 meter shortwave broadcast band, another interesting frequency choice.  I'm pretty sure these are fishing fleets.

Frequency:  4630 kHz 4.630 MHz 4.63 MHz
Mode: USB
Time: 0305 UTC +
Date: 27 SEPTEMBER 2017

Very active frequency tonight, checked four different SDRs all up and down the east coast of the USA, and can hear activity on here on all of them.  Signal strength varies from just barely readable to S6 peaks and very good copy.  This frequency has been logged many times before, seems to be a common 4 MHz band frequency for fishing fleets or I really have no idea who these guys are but they are very active...even when the 6700-7000 kHz or so band isn't very active at all.

Weak traffic heard tonight, another easy to remember frequency...pretty close to a known active military aero HF SSB frequency however.  That is, 6755.5 kHz USB (right next to 6754 kHz USB).

SIO 111, very weak copy and lots of static crashes.

Lots of static crashes tonight, however a very strong Portuguese language QSO is booming in right now.  Solid S7 signals with peaks to S9.  At least 4-5 different stations talking in a roundtable ragchew like QSO "net" fashion.

Frequency: 6935 kHz 6.935 MHz

While the rest of the band remains quiet, I am hearing Spanish language stations calling CQ and making contacts on 27.555 USB 27555 USB.  Several stations heard talking over each other at 2038 UTC.  Oddly enough, no other frequencies seem to be active at this time...only "the triple" 27555 USB.  Even the usual Spanish language calling frequency (27455 LSB) is quiet.
