Now there's still the dash, but some weird ass bursts. Short short short...with a long one at the end. Its on and off.  It sounds like it might contain digital computer data, I'm not familliar with the different types.

off at 0134ish

This was Link 11, tactical data link.  An example is here  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__-rtLRQUhg

Link 11 does not always sound the same, it varies quite a bit depending on what data is being carried and how many nodes are active in the network.

Other / Re: What is this station? Need help figuring out what it is.

Note the frequency (the one listed in the video is not the same as in the thread here).  This frequency is a typical JT65 freq, and the mode is JT65.

This topic has been moved to Other.  This is a Ham digital mode, JT65, and not a Numbers Station.

Nice one !!  Sounds like VC05. It hasn't been reported for a while
I have several samples on my website http://www.numbersoddities.nl/vl.html

Ary, it may not be being reported often, but it is heard several times a week on the US West coast.  Definately still active.

HF Beacons / Re: new dasher 8000.5 Khz
« on: January 27, 2014, 0224 UTC »
S4 here in the Mojave Desert on 26 Jan, 2014, at 0202 UTC.  center freq of the dash is about 8000.22 kHz.  Dash length is 1.6 second and they are 7.08 seconds start to start, or about 8.5 dashes per minute.  There is a slight shift upwards in freq during the dash, shift is not linear and results in a curve.

The modulation was FM, and it went off air at 1820 UTC.  I had only just tuned into it on the Twente SDR, so never heard an ID before itleft the air in mid song.  Also, the freq was 6273 kHz.

Spy Numbers / Re: HM01... REMIX!

Heck, I recently read a report of RHC using one of the HM01 frequencies at least once (apparently in error) -- that report came from either the DXLD group or the UDXF group on Yahoo, if I recall properly, but it was about a week ago or less...

They did the same thing yesterday.  14375 kHz had R. Habbana on it for a couple of hours.  It's Pedro, nothing surprises me about that station.

RML voice at 0406 UTC.  Signal is very weak tonight for some reason, must be odd conditions.  I can just barely make out what is being said.

(edit) 0422   Major Tom, the Shatner version! (I think)  ;)

In the last 3 months  I have caught 3 different signals on this freq within a few 10's Hz.  On Nov 24 2013 I had something that was sending two dashes, basicaly forming a long M, but the second dash was a bit longer than the first.  WOuld repeat every ~6.5 seconds.  On Dec 3 I had a 2 second dasher here, 2 seconds on and 2 seconds off.  And then last night the MOJAVE DES CW beacon, which is here this mornign also.  No idea if they are related or not, maybe the earlier was someone setting the transmitter up?

HF Beacons / Possible new dasher, 4050.34 kHz, 09 Jan, 2014, 0220 UTC
« on: January 09, 2014, 0344 UTC »
Another possible new dasher / beacon tonight, 09 Jan, 2014, at 0220 UTC.  This one sends dashes.  One dash about 0.19 second long each 0.92 seconds.  Values not very exact as I was jsut eyeballing it on the spectrogram.  Frequency is 4050.34 kHz.  Signal level fair but not strong.

(edit) going through the logs here I see this is very similar, virtually identical timing and pulse, to a dasher I had on 4096.87 kHz on November 28, 2013.

There appears to be a new south west beacon in operation around the 4096 kHz range.  I have not been checking these freqs very often, the last time was probably a couple weeks ago, but tonight this one is very clear.  There is enough fading on it that I am not ground wave to it, but a nice signal all the same.

4096.54 kHz, Jan 09. 2014, 0215 UTC.  Sends three long dashes, each about 1.3 seconds long, the third is slightly longer than the rest.  The three dashes are followed by MOJAVE DES in CW.  The cycle then repeats, each cycle is about 18.9 seconds long.

Go to it guys, lets see where else this one is heard.

The letters and numbers are synthesized, possibly using two different voices.  Notice the pronunciation of "declination", typical text to speech issue.  The same station was heard on 10 MHz also.

My guess is a fake, and a poor one at that, at least the format could be more consistent.  Also notice that all frequencies seen so far have been inside ham bands (both 30 and 20 meters).  Although now that I posted that I bet we see some a bit outside the bands.

Of course I thought the same thing about EV01 when we first saw it, so maybe not.

Are you sure that "a week" might not have been "oblique"?  If it was "oblique" this could have been E11 (example on my channel here  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJUBmtChWQc )

I don't think it is "Play" Current, I think it is Radio Plate Current.  About S8 in the Mojave Desert of California.

S8 to S9 here in the Mojave Desert.  Audio sounds and looks like RML to me, but not sure.  I guess we will find out when there is an ID ;)
