I thought this was still Bust A Nut radio but it's on USB. Playing music. Lots of static, difficult to make out. Signal 24232.

0302 Male voice, can't make out what he's saying.
0310 Static is overpowering. Think it's still in there but can't tell.
0315 Signal came up a bit, could hear voices, but couldn't tell what they were saying.

47
I just tuned in mid-program. Playing music. Not a great signal here but not bad. SINPO 34333.

Various voice clips being played over top of music. Signal is taking some deep fades so revised signal report. Averaging S5 here.

0327Z ID Radio ? International

0339 Voices talking about repairing electronic equipment. A phone number was given.

0340 Heard WBCQ, WABC mentioned. Sounded like a studio interview or a phone call.

0342 sounded like ID Radio Calendar International

0351 ID Radio Jamba International heard quite clearly this time

0405 Another Radio Jamba International ID. Guitar music in background with voices over top.

0450 Still at it. Some deep fades. Various rock and blues jams being played. I did hear "They call me Kracker."

0452 Gone now.
Thanks for the show Radio Jamba!

HF Beacons / 4 MHz beacons
« on: March 24, 2012, 1527 UTC »
This morning was a fairly good morning for the CW beacons. Strange, because I haven't heard any of them all winter.

I woke up at 0930Z to tune around. Over the next half hour I heard these with the assistance of Spectrum Lab:

4079.65 TMP beacon - often copied partial characters, copied a "MP" once and the full number 0 once.

4096.00 - dits?
4096.05 - dits?
4096.26 - dashes
4096.46 - dashes?
4096.52 - dits?
4096.59 - dashes - by far the strongest signal of all of these
4096.70 - dashes

So they weren't as strong as they were a couple years ago but still in there this morning in Urbana, Illinois.

51
Came on with TZ IS, "Gather around me little buccaneers," great signal here tonight S9.

0140 "Heard It In A Love Song," Marshall Tucker Band
0144 ID, "Midnight Rider," Allman Brothers
0148 "Ventura Highway," America
0150 ID, signal disappeared

Captain Morgan was so strong here that I never heard the interfering station. It's very weak in the background now and I can't make it out at all.

Thanks Captain!

52
Came on with music. Still difficult for me to copy, T-storm QRN really bad.

I'm still hearing mention of "Alex Vranes" and "Hilltopper" but this is not the canned loop that was playing before, there's more to it including some music.

0321 I don't know what is going on here. There may be two stations on top of one another. The "Alex Vranes" seems to be the same loop but I hear another station at the same time. Just heard "Tony T-O-N-Y Straka S-T-R-A-K-A" and some talk about $60? Maybe another station is attempting to jam the Alex station?

0339 A station pops up in strength once in a while. I heard "How you guys doing today?" and a female voice "This is Radio ...", sound like a foghorn, then either a horse neighing or a sheep bleating.

0346 Again female voice "This is Radio ...", more foghorns, horse, sheep and cow sounds.

I heard the "Oscar Lima ..." in there. Now only hear a repetitive electronic foghorn sound. I believe it is an attempt to jam the Alex station, which is gone now as far as I can tell.

0430 Frequency is clear except for the repetitive "foghorn" sound that has been going all along. I wonder what it is?

53
Here we go again ...

Well, it wasn't on for long tonight. QRT around 0250Z.

I typed too soon. Back on again 0258Z. But only for a couple minutes.

54
Hard to make out anything except the fact it's music. Thunderstorm QRN is S9 or greater here tonight.

German sounding song at 0227.
Heard "This is Radio Blah Blah Blah" at 0234.
Sound effects/cuckoo clocks at 0237

Noise here is horrendous. I hear a male voice on USB in amongst the static crashes. Very weak, S0-S1.

Signing on with "Jammin'" Bob Marley. Not strong, maybe S3 or so, lot of QSB.

57
Just tuned in. Weak signal, S2, seems to be in progress. From the voice pitch maybe WBNY? I'm not sure, it's higher pitched than the typical male voice. I hear just talk, no music. Talking about FRN, "Alex Brains(?) is a piece of shit," "Alex Brains(?) is an asshole" etc.

Whatever it is, I don't find it funny.

Another signal (voice) in the background. Much weaker.

I just realized this transmission is most likely about Alex_In_West_Virginia. Dude, I feel for you. If this is what you have to contend with, I can understand your wanting to give up.

Someone making an attempt to jam transmission at 0356Z. Station disappeared at 0400Z. I have a partial recording.

58
Missed ID at first.

Signing on with a mix of "Who Are You" and some other song. Signal stronger than most tonight, S5 to S7 on peaks. Now going into "I Need A Love" by Rolling Stones.

Copied the ID second time!

Lots of mashes of various songs as listed by others below (Thanks!) plus a couple of hiccups of jumping backwards in a song.

Abruptly disappeared at 0143Z.

Thanks for great show, Captain!

59
I've been hearing various weak voices on the frequency but no music. Heard a fairly strong "Testing 1-2-3" but that is all of what it said.

Now (0045Z) I'm hearing what sounds like the tail-end of Rave On Radio that suddenly came up out of nowhere giving e-mail address and ID. Very weak and I wasn't hearing any of the program earlier.

Still hearing voices and what sounds like whistles at 0055Z. Signals really weak. Conditions have been terrible today. EVERYTHING on shortwave has been much weaker than it should be.

HF Beacons / Dashes on 13559.8 kHz
« on: March 18, 2012, 1759 UTC »
I've been sitting here at 1745-1750Z on March 18 and listening to two dashers on about 13559.8 kHz. Both dashes are about a second long. They are on slightly different frequencies. They do not seem to be from the same source, as the spacing between the dashes is not the same for the two and at times they even overlap. I think they repeat approximately every 20 seconds. They disappear for lengths of time altogether due to QSB.

According to Spectrum Lab, they are about 100 Hz apart.

I have no idea of the source of these. Listening with a dipole.

Update at 1800Z: Yet another dasher has appeared another 120 Hz or so above the higher of the other two. This seems to be a busy frequency!

Updated/corrected posting again at 1824Z with more accurate info. The two lower dashers are consistently coming in quite well at the moment, maybe S3 or S3.
