SDR recording catch. Good signal at first, but then started to fade out around 0035, pretty much gone by 0040 except for a weak carrier, no audio, which went off around 0053.

The FCC Friday released its final opening bid prices for TV stations eligible for the broadcast incentive auction that starts in March 2016.

The top bid will be in New York—$900 million for WCBS-TV.

The list also includes stations—listed as "not needed"—that the FCC will not need to offer to buy in order to clear enough spectrum in each market. For example, the FCC needs no stations in Grand Junction‐Montrose, Colo., or the Butte‐Bozeman, Mont., markets.

Radio engineer Stan Nelson uses a Yagi antenna in New Mexico to detect 54 MHz TV signals reflected from meteor trails. When a meteor passes over his observatory--ping!--there is an echo.

Now, a researcher who goes by the name Dark Purple has created a USB device that can permanently destroy much of a computer's innards, rendering the machine little more than an expensive doorstop. Within seconds of being plugged in, the USB stick delivers a negative 220-volt electric surge into the USB port. As the video below demonstrates, that's enough to permanently damage the IBM Thinkpad receiving the charge.

Weak, but starting to fade it, music popping up above the static.

This turned up on my SDR recording catch. 0918 sign on or fade in, rather weak at first, but then a strong signal about 15 or 20 minutes later.

Chinese music, and an OM and YL talking in presumed CC.

Time pips and off at 1000.
