HF Beacons / CO- the gold standard beacon

CO is *always* available at grey line time even on indoor random wire antennas. For 2000 miles and less than a half watt, that's pretty amazing. Tonight is no exception. It's peeping in here with it's slight upward drift on my downstairs indoor antennas.

HF Beacons / CO vy strong

« on: February 06, 2010, 2354 UTC »

Im copying 5185 so well tonight I hear it on mt "easychair" receiver < Drake SW2 and indoor loop up all of 9' (wirewrap wire tacked to the ceiling) > in my living room.

Good job...with the duty cycle so low your batteries should last a looonnnggg time.

The second lower dasher seemed to peak as Blinky faded. Wonder if anyone can copy this newcomer.  I think someone logged this earlier.

Just heard the tail end of the broadcast, with a parody of an airline pilot describing the scenery and the handguns carried by the crew. Nice signal, but off before ID.

General Radio Discussion / enigma 2000 attitude in "welcome" email
« on: January 13, 2010, 2207 UTC »
I got the attached email in response to a polite request to join the enigma2000 list.  While I understand the need for participation, this response seemed a bit over the top. Is that group the insufferable gang of pr**ks that such a response might lead one to believe, or am I just having a really bad day?

I replied by canceling my request to join.
