General Radio Discussion / Uploading pirate QSLs?
« on: January 09, 2010, 0037 UTC »
I was a very active Pirate SWL back in the 80s and early 90s. I kept the cards I got from the 50 or so stations, and it would be fun to scan and upload them.

I've seen in the Wiki the "upload file" section. If I was to do this, does someone (Chris?) make sure they end up in the right place? Do I need to arrange for this ahead of time?

Thanks for any pointers....

General Radio Discussion / Numbers-where to start
« on: January 05, 2010, 0043 UTC »
I'd enjoy listening to some numbers stations (CW or voice). What are the most likely frequencies to monitor in the evening , say from 2300-0300?

Thanks
J.

HF Beacons / First beacon logs
« on: November 30, 2009, 2055 UTC »
My first beacon logs... fun stuff.

Hearing CO on 11002.7 20:43 utc. Some QSB but quite  copyable.

Logged Blinky last night on ~5157 with steady easy copy.

Location in North Carolina. Rx is JRC NRD525 , and antenna is a 160/80/40 sloper with feedpoint at 40' .

Im going to enjoy this kind of listening.

Any ideas of the power level of CO?

John

HF Beacons / HF beacon plans?
« on: September 12, 2009, 0003 UTC »
Hi,
Does anyone have pointers to a low power (250mW) HF beacon transmitter?
I'd like to build a solar/battery version to plant out in the middle of nowhere
