The RF Workbench / Re: Boxes for HF beacon
« on: June 03, 2021, 1724 UTC »
Im using a 30 cal ammo can to house my 10M QRSS monitor.

One thing I discovered: They can leak .  Mine did somewhere around the handle.

Make sure to check before deployment

Less than half the rejection . This was a "DISTILL AM" filter seen on Ebay

I built a broadcast band bandstop filter to put in front of my Kiwis, and the results are pretty cool, as measured by the NanoVNA.  I got about 55dB attenuation at the frequency of interest and minimal loss at the rest of HF.

Hope some may find it interesting/useful. NanoVNA is awesome

I temp of 114.....that's a lot !

Nothing electronic likes that kind of heat....especially things like electrolytic caps .  It must see direct sun at times.

Sure!

Take ~35' of wire

Cut it in half

Connect the coax inner conductor to one half, the shield to the other, get the whole mess in the air, and you're good to go.

This should be the subject of an article somewhere, thank you for the info.

I wonder if there are any other AMers who are operating QRP like this. I had a Collins AM BCB transmitter that was a 250 watter and I thought *it* was qrp (a pair of 4-250s modulated by another pair) . 5 watts is amazing.

That's it!

I can hear it thru Chris's loop better.

Telemetry is intermittently broadcast.

Light copy on a very low rep rate station in CW just above HIKER...maybe 8005.5 or 8007 .   Sounds like various CW , bit only once every 30 sec or so.

Anyone else?

Shipping delays on my Belka because of components shortages.

Patience is a virtue I've hear them say...

That is very cool.  I'm totally amazed that the FCC would allow a 5 watter on the air...I'd love to know more of the nitty gritty of his fight to keep his footprint among the big guns/syndicated stations in the Boston area. What a treat to have in the community. Thanks for bringing this up.

I was happy and surprised to see this in this month's issue. As much as I love radio, I've found little to enjoy in the past couple years that I've re-upped to QST.
