0022z: Thumping bottom end in music, still very weak.
0025z: OM and YL voice WEAK Radio ID's
0036z: Picking up a bit, some S5 peaks over S1-S2 noise.
0046z: Mexican Radio (I'm guessing original Wall of Voodoo version but can't copy quite well enough to be sure)
0114z: "The Tick" WWV parody.
0124z: WEAK ID
0127z: Sounds like some version of "Cold Turkey"?
0202z: WEAK ID's, National Anthem.

Not strong yet but has that distinctive fat bottom in the audio, thumping the SP30 speaker.

Heh!  It's still WEAK, playing bits from "The Tick", a parody of WWV.  You can Google it.  WEAK has used this bit before, so it's not another station QRMing.

6925 DSB?
Seems to be running DSB or suppressed carrier, a little better on USB side due to local noise. South Park bits, Outhouse Radio ID at 0050z and after 0100z.

Seems to be a number theme, songs with numbers in titles. Very poor conditions, just enough to copy a few songs.
Since 0245z Wolverine Radio ID, Five O' Clock World, Six Man Band, 7th Son, others
0316z: Wolverine Radio ID, just barely audible now.
0323z: Sixteen Tons, still just barely audible.
0328z: Alice Cooper "18"
0336z: SSTV, no copy, signal faded after 0300z.

Propagation must be miserable when even Wolverine Radio barely nudges the needle. Trying various reception antennas here to improve SNR.

Thanks for the show, Wolverine! Always fun to guess the theme.

6925 USB
1100-1125z: Donna Summer "Love To Love You Baby", Neil Sedaka "Bad Blood", couldn't copy most songs due to fades.
1104z: SSTV, Scottie 1, able to copy Radio Ga-Ga logo, nothing else.

SINPO=24312, peaks just enough to copy familiar songs, many fades to inaudible

I don't often post QSL-received notices here but this one's an exception.  Considering puny propagation and my feeble indoor antenna I was delighted to catch a bit of a 6/2/10 Radio Ronin Shortwave show and a positive ID for another RRS show on 6/7/10.  But I couldn't copy any contact info, snail mail or e-mail, so I didn't send a reception report.

Imagine my surprise to receive an offer from RRS to send a QSL card, which I received this past week.  I know the ops go to a lot of trouble and effort to air these shows and send e-mail signal report confirmations and eQSLs, so it's a real treat when an op also includes the expense of printing up and mailing QSL cards.  I have only a few - Undercover Radio, The Crystal Ship, Channel Z, Kracker and Bad Andy (those are particularly uncommon), Dead Cat Radio, Northwoods Radio (including a CD of the show) ... hope I'm not overlooking anyone else here - and I'm delighted to add this to that small collection.

Heh!  With piratical malfeasance I've learned never to assume anything.  Every time I think I can ID a pirate by signal or audio characteristics alone, they'll toss me a knuckleball and I'll whiff.

There's all kinds of goofiness on the pirate bands.  Could be anyone, anywhere, anytime.  All part of the fun.

DSB?

Nah, not that I could tell here (also N. Central TX).  What I logged I heard only on USB, nada on LSB.

I copied Outhouse later (at least I heard a computer voice Outhouse ID) on 6931.5 in DSB, clear audio in both LSB/USB, but this was when both 6925.5 USB and 6931.5 DSB were on simultaneously.

6925.5 USB
0145z: Was experimenting with another indoor passive loop design and briefly heard a song with "radio, radio, radio" in the lyrics.

Was way down in the mud and completely inaudible on the other antennas. Off or faded out by 0150z, nothing heard since.

0225z: Music just barely audible again on 6925.5 USB for a minute, not enough to ID anything.
0235z: Some sorta Celtic-jig rock kinda instrumental.
0243z: Song with "power, music power" repeated. Google sez: Porno, Time 2 Move
0257z: Porno For Pyros "Pets"
0315z: Still hanging in there, lots of fades

6924.2 LSB/USB, no carrier
Up 'til around 0300z or so, music and other bits occasionally audible. Voice sounded like Outhouse op but couldn't get clear enough copy consistently to be sure.

Some occasional Spanish pesque QRM with chatter and whistling on 6925.5 USB, sounded like same guy heard there for past couple of weeks.

Very feeble propagation lately, even with the usual flamethrower broadcasters like EWTN/WEWN on 6890 late a night.

Same heard here.  Didn't note times (roughly between 0000-0200z) but by the time you played Cypress Hill and Billy Preston the signal seemed to have settled on 6923 and audio was cleaner.  Very cool, noticed the DSB, no/suppressed carrier trick.  About equally audible on both USB/LSB, depending on usual propagation shifts.

Thought I heard another station closer to 6925 but it sounded more like the usual pesque jibber jabber around 6925-26 we've heard recently.  Didn't sound like another pirate to me, but wasn't clear enough to tell for certain.

Another station was on 6929 LSB at same time but no QRM between you, plenty of signal and audio separation here.

North American Shortwave Pirate / Pesques vs. Pirates 6925.5 USB
« on: June 15, 2010, 0520 UTC »
6/15/10
0150z: Sounds like turf tussle on 6925.5 USB. Spanish pesques whistling and chattering almost non-stop during evenings recently, wiping out most pirate signals here in Gopher Stomp. But someone is firing back with chanting music, and wild guitar instruments riffs, much stronger signal than pesques. Drifting/shifting slightly between 6925.4-6925.6. Can still hear pesque jibber jabber underneath.
0204z: Pesques ain't giving up yet, still chattering underneath louder rock instrumentals.
0220z: More wailing, distorted guitar riffs, a little Hendrix, a little Deep Purple, etc., but Spanish QSO still audible underneath.

Kudos to DimBulb for spotting the theme: Alphabetical by artist name. Nice call, DB!

6925 USB
0140z: Didn't hear the distinctive "Testing 1-2-3" intro, but signal popped up during "Cherish", holding well through "Paperback Writer", Cure "Why Can't I Be You", Doors "Love Street"
0151z: Wolverine Radio ID, into Easybeats "Friday On My Mind", Fixx "Saved By Zero"
0158z: Chipmunk rock! Go-Go's got the beat. Look out! Jane Weidlin is faaallliinnnggg!
0207z: Faded a bit, sounds like old Jefferson Airplane, "Good Shepherd"? We must be up to the J's.
0210z: Kingsmen "Louie Louie"
0213z: Hertz So Bad, must be Little Anthony & Imperials version (IRC folk say Lettermen, not Li'l Agony)
0215z: Monkees "Last Chimp From Clarksville"
0221z: Back after brief fadeout, Oingo Boingo "Just Another Day"
0227z: Pretenders. Don't get meee wrooong, but I luvs me some Chrissie Hyyyynde
0254z: Velvet Underground, The Who
0257z: Wolverine fooled me, dunno who this is for "X". I was expecting Exene singing "Blue Spark"
0302z: Runnnn for your braaaiiinnnsss, Zombies!
0305z: SSTV, Scottie 2, mostly buried in noise other than Wolverine Radio logo at bottom.

SINPO=33322, good peaks, lots of fades to moderate noise level. Not strong but punching through usual local RFI, usual good audio from Wolverine.

2150z: Just a very faint carrier here on 6925, probably as good as I'll get to an indoor antenna before gray line.
