1649z: Mamas & Papas "Monday, Monday"
1656z: Dead air
1659z: Mamas & Papas "California Dreamin'"
1702z: "Monday, Monday" again (some overlapping audio, same song with slight delay)
1711z: "Monday, Monday" again after more dead air
1717z: Speeded up version of "Monday, Monday", but not pitch shifted

No ID heard.

SINPO - 25432, not even nudging the needle but very low noise today.

1742
2336z: TCS ID and Youngbloods "Get Together" jussst barely audible on the Magnavox portable with whip indoors, tuned to 5386 AM. Dunno why, but this radio seems to work better with TCS than the others.
2344z: A bit of Guess Who "Share The Land" briefly audible.
2345z: Jefferson Airplane "Somebody to Love", no mistaking Grace Slick's vocals.
2351z: Julianna Montana ID.
2354z: Sounds like Cowsills version of "Hair"? Just barely there... hair.
0020z: Nancy Sinatra "These Boots Are Made For Walking"
0031z: Doors "Strange Days"
0045z: "Spill the Wine", Eric Burdon & War

Not strong, mebbe SINPO = 24312, but gray line conditions seem favorable here.

1745-1820z: Air checks and jingles for WXYZ, KBCI (not sure about the second one), others.  Ray Charles, other music.
1820z: Computer voice ID for Outhouse Radio
1830z: Outhouse Radio live voice ID, couldn't copy the rest.
1850z: "Green Onions", Booker T & MGs
1935z: SSTV (no copy here) and Outhouse Radio ID w/ "I'm outta here."

SINPO - 25312, just above the mud, many fades to inaudible but occasionally clear enough to copy over moderate noise.

Mostly listening on Sony 2010 portable with indoor random wire antenna.  Interesting to compare with Palstar on fugloop, as propagation shifts seem to alternately favor one setup over another every few minutes.

Shortwave Broadcast / RTI via WYFR Asian language broadcast 6875
« on: February 18, 2010, 0314 UTC »
Apparently Radio Taiwan International relay via WYFR transmitter, shifted from 6915 sked to 6875.
2/18/10
6875 AM
0305 UTC: Asian language broadcast, mostly YL announcer, some mentions of Taiwan, sounds like news reading.  After 0310z YL joined by OM voice, several more mentions of Taiwan.  Jingles, but so far can't tell whether this is Radio Taiwan or a religious broadcaster in Chinese language.  Pop music consistent with RTI programming.

No current record on EiBi.  I think WEWN used to be on this freq but can't recall last time I heard a broadcaster on 6875.  Not listed on current RTI sked, haven't checked CRI yet.

0359z: Closed out Asian language programming with Family Radio ID in English and immediate transition to WYFR with Harold Camping at top of hour 0400z.

2/17/10, 1200-1215 UTC, 7000 LSB: Same heard again, various OM voices chanting nonsensical vocalizations.  As usual, one voice louder than others, seems to more or less lead others in intermittent chanting vocalizations.  Peaked around 1215z, faded out by 1235z.

North American Shortwave Pirate / Wolverine Radio 6950 USB love theme
« on: February 14, 2010, 0417 UTC »
2/14/10
6950 USB
0127z: "Testing 1-2-3" Barenaked Ladies
0130z: Wolverine Radio ID
0131z: Medley of rock/pop songs with love in title
0145z: After another Wolverine Radio ID, transitioned to older standards like Sinatra "My Funny Valentine"
0155z: Jazzy guitar instrumental version of "My Funny Valentine", great audio
0202z: Sounds like Elvis Costello version of "My Funny Valentine"
0203z: Wolverine Radio ID
0204z: Willie Nelson
0225z: Back to more pop/rock genre valentine theme songs, sounded like some Tragically Hip, either Neil Young or Nils Lofgren in there too.
0244z: Wolverine Radio ID, followed by a reprise of the love medley from start of program.
0257z: SSTV, Scottie 1, will post later

SINPO - 34323, hovering S1-S3, some S5 peaks.  After 0215z, rapid fluttering fades between S1-S7 with some strong clear peaks.

Thanks, Wolverine, these theme shows are lotsa fun.

2/13/10, 0122 UTC, 6840 AM: E10, usual phonetics, female voice.  SINPO - 25442, audible here only because local electricity was off overnight, so neighborhood was free of usual heavy RFI.

Other / 6800 presumed image
« on: February 13, 2010, 0640 UTC »
2/13/10, 0146 UTC, 6800 AM: Sounded like Pastor Melissa Scott, presumably image from either a WWCR or Caribbean Beacon relay of her shortwave broadcasts.  I've heard this before on 6800, tho' usually at such low signal strength it can't be ID'd clearly.  This was fairly clear due to neighborhood power outage and very low RFI.
