What little I can make out of Spanish and Portuguese, they jibber jabber about the same stuff we all do: sex, drugs/beer, rock and roll, crappy jobs, worse weather, and how amazing Shakira looks.

The English speaking peskies I've heard from the Gulf are pretty much the same.  Insider gossip about jobs, chatter about family, griping about the weather.  Like the Spanish and Portuguese peskies occasionally I'll hear them chatter with wives and girlfriends.  It's never anything racy enough for TMZ or the National Enquirer.  They know they're being heard worldwide so, unlike cell phone calls, they tend to avoid anything X-rated or illegal.

The Portuguese speaking peskies from Brazil are an odd bunch.  They seem to include long distance truckers who alternative between jibber jabber and odd sing-song chanting to amuse and keep each other awake on the road.

0310z: Just tuned into 6925 USB, heard Red Mercury Labs ID, Fixx "Red Sky at Night".  Not strong but audible through lower than usual local RFI.

My first catch of Insane Radio, albeit via east coast web chewner.  Good signal and crazy good programming - loved the Papa Bear O'Reilly rant mashed in with other audio.

Having a heckuva time tuning to center, hearing two carriers via this SDR.  Other listeners on IRC report no problems so I'm gonna blame operator error - mine.  Can't find the tubes and cat whiskers on this silly SDR.

Caught just the tail end of RKNW with several IDs at sign off, strong signal via east coast web chewner.

Nah, I'm not gonna gripe over a freebie MediaFire account.  I would if I was paying.

Just tuned in via east coast chewner, hearing Primitive Radio Gods "Standing Outside a Broken Phone Booth With Money In My Hands" followed by Renegade Radio ID, Psychedelic Furs "Purty in Pank".  Chatter by op, Music From the Big Mope "Airbody Wantsa Rule The Whirled".  Sign-off ID after Tubes "She's a Booty"

Great choonz, man.

Tuff copy through heavy QRN, hearing Po'-Leeze "Air Li'l Thang She Do", "So Ronery", possible ID but couldn't copy it through noise, "Rocks-Anne, you don' hafta tear that mess tonite"

Just a heads up for folks who upload their off-air recordings of pirate radio broadcasts.

For the past several years I've used "pirate" as a standard keyword for my pirate radio off-air recordings, to make it quicker and easier to sort out those from recordings of shortwave and mediumwave broadcasts, utility stations, numbers, etc.

Apparently MediaFire has an auto-bot that checks for pirated music, software, etc.  So they've recently auto-deleted all of my off-air recordings that used "pirate" as part of the file name, tag or keyword.   >:( It's a freebie account so I'm not complaining.  Most of my files are still intact, so apparently I wasn't consistent about using the term "pirate" as a tag or keyword.

Not a big deal since almost everything was also uploaded to the Internet Archives.  But I'll probably change the file names on those just in case archive.org receives a DMCA complaint and uses a bot to auto-delete any suspicious files.  Can't say I'd blame them since the Internet Archives operates on a shoestring budget.

Wolverine loud and clear via east coast web tuner with great blues tunes.  Also audible via home receiver, but buried in local RFI.

0215z: Sign-off ID for Wolverine after great set of blues tunes.  SSTV (don't have it running on this web tuner).

Great show, good signal and excellent audio.  Good to hear Wolverine again.

General Radio Discussion / Re: Question about Logging Receptions
« on: March 10, 2013, 0354 UTC »
I used to keep notebook and computer database logs.  Haven't bothered with that for a couple of years.  Mostly I just log what I hear on web forums like this, and occasionally email stations directly.

626
Also caught the tail end of show, "Baker Street" and RML sign off ID.  Via home receiver with indoor antenna, not bad considering local t-storm noise.

627
Heard this TCS program as well, about S3 via east coast web tuner and S1-S2 through regional t-storm noise on home receiver.  One of the few broadcasts I've been able to hear on the home receiver this year.

628
Heard Pancho Villa via east coast web tuner.  Pretty good signal, some audio a little muddy.  No luck via home receiver.

Ditto, TCS relay loud and clear on 6950.7 AM via east coast tuner.  Fairly steady, no real fades, audio occasionally sounded a bit overdriven/distorted.  Just a carrier on home receiver.

10/20/12, 6945 AM, 0520z: Radio True North IDs, music, not quite clear enough to ID any songs so far.  Rough conditions, very fadey.
0555z: Some hip-hop with "bow bow bow" sorta sound - familiar but can't recall title or group.
