6/3/12, 6925, 0150z: Eclectic mix of rock music, only able to recognize B-52s.  Fair signal at home via indoor antenna.

Sounded like Spanish, but not the Mexican or Cuban accents I hear most often in Texas.  Maybe Portuguese or other, I'm not sure.  Only word I could copy was "pregunta" (question).  I get a whole different set of pesques here, including Brazilians speaking Portuguese with what sounds most like a German accent (usually 7000 LSB).

6/2/12, 6940 AM, 0440z: U2 "I Will Follow", Radio True North ID, Avril Lavigne "Sk8er Boi".
Fair to good via western remote tuner, just a carrier at home.
0447z: RTN op live on mic, mentioned trying to find requested song for the turntable, spinning vinyl tonight.
0448z: Information Society "What's On Your Mind" (sounds like Pure Energy mix)
0508z: "I Feel Love", the late great Donna Summer, very good signal via Alberta remote tuner

6/2/12, 6925 AM, 0430z: Crazy mishmash of Stones "Honky Tonk Women" and Three Dog Night "Mama Told Me Not to Come", Twilight Zone theme.  Sounds Captain Morganish, but no positive ID heard.  Good signal via eastern web tuner, just barely audible through noise at home.

5/31/12, 6940 AM, 2335z: Via eastern web tuner, caught bits and pieces, RJI ID, Captain Ganja's spoof version of "White Rabbit".  Not a peep on the home receiver.

5/31/12, 6925 AM,00155z: Caught just the tail end of this with Pink Floyd and RSS sign off ID.  Rough conditions due to regional t-storms.

5/27/12, 6940 USB, 0219z: Just tuned in to hear live XFM ID with time of 0219 UTC.  Heavy local RFI so tough to copy much else now.

5/26/12, 6925 USB, 0600z: Steppenwolf "Born To Be Wild", Undercover Radio ID by Dr. Benway, Head East "Never Been Any Reason"
0607z: "Broadcasting from the middle of nowhere" signature ID with gmail addy.
0613z: Evanescence "Going Under"
0622z: Monologue about freedoms, "...government's fundamental responsibility is to protect our liberties..." (I might have misquoted that slightly).
0644z: Pretty much lost signal here, ID barely audible.  Good while it lasted, thanks!

Good signal peaks punching through heavy local RFI.  Tough conditions, lots of fading into heavy white noise (indoor antenna).

744
5/24/12, 6925 AM, 0116z: Huge local RFI, but occasionally hearing some whistling music including "Michael Row the Boat Ashore" and some bluesy stuff with harmonica.  Only heard partial ID.
0135z: Sign off ID for Radio Ronin Shortwave after song with autotuned vocals.

Considering the S7 local RFI and indoor antenna, probably a pretty fair signal.

North American Shortwave Pirate / Turtlehead Radio 6925
« on: May 20, 2012, 0829 UTC »
5/20/12, 6925 USB, 0820z: Turtlehead Radio ID, music - something kinda mellow with piano.  Not sure if been on awhile and just now peaked, or just started.
0834z: "I'm An A$$hole" (Denis Leary?), Edwyn Collins "A Girl Like You" (and some voiceover by op, couldn't quite copy through noise)
0839z: Colonel Turtlehead asking for requests.  Heard another voice in there but local noise too high.
0843z: Foo Fighters "Everlong" (what the heck is he whispering in the middle of that song?)
0846z: Mention of guest host, but obscured by fades and noise.
0847z: Mazzy Star "Fade Into You".  Luv dat Mope Sandoval.
0853z: Something about a do not disturb sign.

SINPO=33422, rough conditions, heavy fog of white noise RFI and fading, making it tough to ID unfamiliar music.

Utility / Re: Aviation weather on 6950 USB?

Via SDR-14, same image from aviation weather audible on 6950 overnight while listening to the TIMIT phrase loops (logged elsewhere as "aggressive policeman", although I prefer to think of it as the greasy wash water station.  Or maybe the oily rag station.  ???)

5/18/12, 6950 USB, 0630-0700z: Was briefly audible here on home receiver, same three phrases repeated, also heard SSTV tones but too faint for copy here.

Same heard via east coast SDR.  Highly illogical.

« on: May 17, 2012, 0108 UTC »
5/17/12, 6923.8 AM, 0055z: Some guitar rock 'n' roll with accordion; woman singing in German? Radio Blah-Blah-Blah or Bluh-Bluh-Bluh... Blub-Blub-Blub?  Audio clip from Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, starring Richard Basehart who, in every episode, has to smack David Hedison around because, clearly, Captain Crane was far too high strung and neurotic to skipper a submarine.  Batman theme song, medley of cartoon themes. Mahna-Mahna, sounds like one of the many Sesame Street variations.

Good via East Coast web tuner.  Not a peep at home.
