Does she SPEAK 20 languages..? I'd be more inclined to believe her had she broadcast her disjointed ramblings in other tongues. I used to see Dr Scott on my old C Band satellite system way back in the 90s. From what I hear, she used to be an "exotic dancer" & that's how she met "Dr" (quotes intentional) Scott. Totally off topic- sort of-

but what is it with USA shortwave?? You'd think with all of the great minds & people with a lot of capital to invest, we'd find some decent programming. Are there some unspoken rules about broadcasting the unwashed masses are kept in the dark about? For instance- that you cannot have any programming that is instructive, interesting, or useful.

what do you all use for receiving antenna for those LW beacons? I can barely get anything below 530khz in a very noisy environment in a multi unit dwelling. Right now I am using a coax as antenna- it goes up to the flat roof past the 5th floor here and I have no idea what's on the other end of it- probably just bare from an old satellite dish set up. Here's the deal- I have TWO coax coming in from the roof to my unit. Tomorrow our satellite guy installs our system on the roof- and I'll have access to the end of that coax! It's gonna be quick in dirty, can't have any elaborate or time consuming stuff or anything that will draw "questions" if you know what I mean wink wink from nosy snobby HOA people. I'll put down about 70' of 14g wire just lying on the ground there neatly out of the way.

I'd love to be able to receive some LW some day.. hope my stealth idea helps with that I'll find out tomorrow God willing

lately it's been CUBA on 1180am, I am in arizona. Caught El Paso TX last night in the car on 1360AM which crowded out our local station on 1360AM! it drifted in...stayed awhile then drifted back out (guess they were just 'visiting' hehehe) I can hear hets on 843khz and around the 900s, sorry don' have exact 900khz band logs nearby. I assume they are Asians. I am only using a random wire about 75' or so VERTICAL (only way, it's atop a condo building can't go horizontal without being Spiderman) and balun. I am surprised at my catches as this is an extremely noisy environment and our wiring is not grounded in this building  ???

Utility / skyking skyking do not answer 11:25UT on 4724u just now

Great conditions this early AM-and surprise surprise heard a "SKYKING, SKYKING Do Not Answer"- a few short codes, then "End of Broadcast" young male voice. At or around 1020UT I was hearing some sort of data transmissions on this same 4724 frequency, in a form I've never heard before. I recorded it on my mobile for future reference.

catching AFN Los Angeles on 5765u this morning- interesting conditions today.

My qth is Arizona but AFN is a no-no for me. In 5 years of dxing first time I've heard it myself on this frequency. Asia is coming in strong, anything from the East, and 4840 WWCR seems to be taking long path according to my ears.

TV DX Loggings / Re: I miss analog TV!
« on: December 07, 2012, 2303 UTC »
Last month I was doing a scan and caught KUDF-LP on channel 14, an analog Azteca America out of Tucson AZ, 109 mi from my location in Phoenix. KUDF is analog Maximum ERP: 9.990 kW. I thought I was catching Mexico  :-[ at first. I am using a Clearstream 4 UHF antenna about 30' above ground. The signal was poor at best. Yes, I too miss analog TV a lot! It is (was...) a lot of fun TV dxing. I currently receive some Tucson stations well with my antenna and sometimes catch some 2edge digital stations about 105 miles away. I am in a condo and on 2nd floor and have great envy for my top floor neighbors who must get great reception considering they are about 70 feet above average terrain.

I've been hearing a pattern of "dits" on 4655 USB - no voice, just dit dit dit dit...no cw code just seems random dits anywhere from 5 to 9 dits in a row, then a pause..is quite narrow bandwidth. I haven't made a log but will start doing so now, I was unaware that frequency was no longer used, I assumed it was Mossad all along.

Thank you I thought so. I am a relative noob, so I doubt some of my catches as I am merely a casual listener not a ham. I appreciate your info

Spanish voice 12:44UTC YL now OM: "romero, romero (unintelligible) primero" again and again- preceded by some odd voice scrambler sounded like a speeded up record. OM again calling "romero, romero (something something) primero"

pardon me if I am posting in wrong forum area- I'm not that familiar with the band plans I had to google it and still not so sure about them. Seems odd to hear what sounded like amateur on this frequency. Can someone clarify- or at least point to a site where I can find exact allocations for certain frequencies? I have the ARRL color band plan, seems like this frequency is not a "ham" one. If I am mistaken please reply or mod relocate this into the right forum. Thanks.

FM Free Radio / Re: FM station heard
« on: December 03, 2012, 0157 UTC »
Butting in here- is it possible that just maybe that 88.1 could be a home transmitter set to an XM radio on 88.1? Someone may have a beefed up xmitter,  why I bring this up- I just moved into a condo and often hear my neighbor's XM/Sirius on 88.1 (I think it's my neighbor anyway!) old time radio is a popular XM station. This of course is all conjecture, however...

I am currently hearing *something* on 1710kHz AM, hearing OM and it sounds like talk radio.  I can only hear the timbre and rhythm of human voice, copy is very poor so I cannot make out the words. First time for me on this frequency, hearing anything-- and I check often.

My location is Southwestern USA using a coax as antenna approximately 65' vertical (going up a condo wall to the roof!) Tentec 320D modified for improved LF reception. I got the instructions from the tentec yahoo group and the modification is so incredible MW dxing is my new hobby.

could it have been hebrew? but that doesn't sound italian, sounds more like arabic to most ears- because if it was actually 4.665 it would be MOSSAD.. 4.651 is Airbus test flights according to qrg http://qrg.globaltuners.com/?q=4.6&s=1 but I believe air traffic would be in all EE. I have noticed some reception on the listed mossad frequencies but never good enough for copy.
