Excellent signal with IDs & a "Heard It through the Grapevine" mashup

1067
Tuned in to IDs, then "Ring of Fire" by Johnny Clash

1068
Was coming in pretty well, then readjusted the freq (for drift) on the R-390A, then the station disappeared

1069
Excellent signal with "Monday, Monday" & Monkees "Last Train to Clarksville" Heard ID & e-mail address before I started recording

Excellent signal on both R-390A & PL-660 Nat King Cole song from 1962 & op said he wasn't even shaving then. Clear ID. Said he'd check the price of the record on eBay. Hendrix "All along the Watchtower" & op said conditions suck tonight

First station I've heard on a used Tecsun PL-660 that I just picked up at the Winterfest for a few bucks. Fair with just the whip antenna when the sync detector kicks in. Thanks for the show!

General Radio Discussion / Winter SWL Fest
« on: February 27, 2020, 2129 UTC »
The Winter SWL Fest is running right now. It's a great place to hear some interesting forums about SW & AM radio and also to meet up with other people interested in the hobby. I've probably met a couple dozen HFU people there (and probably a few dozen more then-active pirate listeners from the pre-HFU era). Aside from a few clubs & DXpeditions, such as MARE & BADX, it's the only real opportunity to meet up.

Time to add the extra 10' section to the tower.
BTW, too bad the other "amateur radio" tower shown in the article is a TV antenna. I know I'm old when newspaper reporters don't know what TV is!

Excellent signal with '60s hard rock. No IDs yet

1075
Excellent signal on 4015 with clear echo ID

1076
Excellent signal with blues songs

1077
Thanks for the ID & log! I tuned in to a station at 2100 UTC on 1720. No IDs yet, but nonstop accordian folk music. BTW, I first tuned in via Twente, where it was really weak, so I switched to a KIWI SDR in Warsaw, where it is very strong

1078
Thanks for the logging. I pulled it up on the Twente web receiver and had it up for an hour or two in the background. Lots of '80s new wave & more recent pop & dance music. A number of "your favorite radio station" promos. At about sign off about 20 minutes ago, I heard a number of "Mystery Radio 21" IDs and the e-mail address. Fair signal early, but good later
