HUGE signal with typical program of techno dance music & electronic IDs. Faded after a few min.
THanks for the show!

Heard here, too, but really weak in deep static. According to the guys on Iann's chat, this was WPOD. My first time for this station.
Thanks for the show!

Much better sig than normal here, too. Tuned in to The Who "Squeeze Box," then "Life in the Fast Lane"

Thanks for the show!

Excellent sig here & have been listening since not long after sign on. Peaking at S9. All blues music thus far. New "Lone Ranger" computer-voiced IDs (at least they're new to me)
Thanks much for the show!

Not a lot of audio, but clear singing coming through. Sounds like older, slower blues with a woman singer.

Thanks for the show!

I wondered what that station was. THanks also for the IDs on the music. Despite the SynchDet being pulled all over the place, I should've gotten at least one of these... Guess I need to go back for some more remedial TV studies.

Decent signal here with a lot of '30s- or 40s-era music, but sounds at times like there's 2 stations on the freq & the Synch Detector on the Drake is having a tough time holding the lock.

THanks for the show & please QSL if you ever decide to go that route  :)

Really poor here. Definitely audible, but too weak to copy.

Thanks for the show!

A little better here. Not sure sure about QRT, but I think it was about 0616.

Thanks for the show!

I agree with Chris about car stereos. If you can find spec sheets on old analog models, you can search around and find one with really good sensitivity and image rejection. And they're cheap.

I hate to open up more possibilities, but I bought my Drake R8 for $400. Really good receiver. Also, in the US, amateur radio transceivers are often less expensive than the matching receiver model. For example (the same one I've been using for a few years, my apologies), the Kenwood R-5000 is often around $500 used, but the Kenwood TS-440 (essentially the same radio, but much heavier and with the ability to transmit 100 watts) is often $350-400.

Also, like Lex, I really like my Sony ICF-2010 (ICF-2001D in Europe). It's a step or two below the R8 & R5000, but I do like it. It also has FM & Aero band.

Trashmen "Surfin' Bird" with the vocals pitch shifted. Even the long Family Radio ID was pitch-shifted in places.  :)

Kinda like if Mr. Sycko snuck into the WFMT control room

BTW, huge signal & nice audio.

Thanks for the show!

Tuned into during the Trashmen cover of "Green Onions." HUGE signal. Was listening on the SX-96 while recording with the R8. I think this is the first completely live show from MAC that I've heard & also the first show that I remember hearing with Doctor Who at the mic (most of the time).

Thanks for the show!

Tuned in during "Benny & the Jets." Better sig than normal. Carrier on the freq, too, enabling me to listen in AM  :)

Thanks for the show!

I'm close to being done with the first pass of station entries for the 2012 PRA. If you ran a pirate in 2011, please check your station e-mail over the next week or two. I'll be sending entries so that you have a chance to review your entry for correctness. If you have sample studio audio or sample QSLs, that would be great.

I've lined up some QSLs and have off-air audio edited for 20 different stations, so I've gotten a start on everything, but I'm sure there's plenty of good stuff out there that I don't have. Also, I don't like to bother people with requests for audio or QSLs, but the last two people I asked for permission to use QSLs said that they were excited to have their names/QSLs in the book. So, if you'd like to have some QSLs or audio in the book, let me know what you have from 2011 (although it'd probably be easier for you if you have everything on a website).

Oh, one thing specifically that I can use right now that I can think of is SSTV pics of Wolverine Radio from 2011. Very few were posted this past year and Wolverine's scans load in seriously slanted on my computer.

Thanks to everyone for your help!
Andrew
