« on: January 03, 2017, 0404 UTC »
Tonight at 0330 utc I'm copying K  sent with very little space between IDs but easy to copy.
Freq. 4070.3...the last dash in the letter K hangs a little longer then the first dash  ...kind of a Texas drawl.

HF Beacons / Another new beacon on 4 mc
« on: December 21, 2016, 1240 UTC »
Dec 21  time 1222 Utc  I began receiving a very weak dasher on 4107 Khz I estimate about 60 dashes per minute
it only fads up out of the noise for maybe 4-5 dashes...

Down the band the 4070 is also weak it is about 36 dashes per min....

4 Mc has been a tough freq. to dx this fall...

P.S. a few weeks ago I thought I heard a dasher on 4089 but it has not been heard only once...I don't think it
was a dedicated beacon just another signal ....

HF Beacons / The 4070.3 Khz beacon
« on: September 11, 2016, 0205 UTC »
I got an e mail from someone a month ago and they asked me if I was hearing a dasher up on 4070.3 khz...
I listened occasionally for it but the static levels caused me to move on to a higher band where the qrn was not so bad.  Then I stopped listening all together.

This morning at 1200 utc I decided to listen again I was up anyway,  and low and behold there it was clear as day but very weak...a dash every 2 secs is what I counted...
this went on for 20 mins and then it faded down a couple of times into the noise and then back out of the noise...about the third fad down, it never appeared again.
I found the strange e mail address of the person who asked me to listen for this beacon and it doesn't exist any longer which adds to the Radio mystery.

P.S. I haven't heard the 4096 beacons in a long time mainly because I have a carrier on that freq.  I haven't heard the X beacon either...so having a 4070 beacon to listen to this winter will be fun....

HF Beacons / Possible insight in to the Hiker beacon
« on: May 13, 2016, 1328 UTC »
I don't actually know the source but of recent info I received third party info.
relative to the hiker.  The original maker of the beacon no longer has the beacon.
It is often activated while in an old Willies WW2 jeep with a vertical antenna.
Power levels can be varied from a few Milliwatts up to a watt.

It is also placed at a remote locations,  there are three locations with very low dipoles that
remain at the locations.  When operating from these locations 100Mw is the power.

That's all I know and I cannot say it is even accurate. Strange stuff I suppose.
