Nah, it's not what I heard on 6940.

It's certainly not Zeeky and his Mushroom friends.

137
I heard something like this on 6940 in AM a couple of weeks back listening on a SDR in TN. The signal was splattering all over the funny band kicking out images. I figured it was those guys rebuilding WWCR on the AL.-TN. line screwing around and didn't report it, but it was two men and a woman with a lot of cussing like you guys are talking about.

SINPO=43332, with loud Ute noise on the frequency here, but the signal fades up to overcome the QRM most of the time.

1731- "No One Like You" by The Scorpions.
1733- Recorded OM DJ ID and talk.
1733- "Don't Say You Love Me" by Billy Squire.

Billy Squire, he'd been around for years and was finally getting a wider audience other than the hard rock fans he'd always had when he had a hit with that tune. His management decided that he should make a video and dance in it, ala', John Cougar Melonhead. Look what it did for Cougar's career?

Video and MTV were the way to go, it couldn't fail. Except for the fact that Billy couldn't dance, the video was a laughingstock, and you didn't hear much about him after that. He made the young Whitney Houston look like a prima ballerina. I don't remember the name of the song, but I remember the reaction to the vid. The poor guy.

Arrrh! That be a Zeeky frequency. I wonder if he blew his amp up?

All pirates lie about the specifics of their operations. Bob Dylan once sang, "To live out side the law you must be honest." Only if you want to get caught, Bobbo. I think Bob was already famous and could afford expensive lawyers when he wrote that one.

141
What are you doing up, Redhat?

WKHB, an oldies/Talk station in Irwin, PA. runs C-Quam on 620. If you're not in the area, it's a tough catch, 5.5 KW daytime, 50 watts nights. You can hear it in mono with a regular radio, but that's no fun.

I'm thinking that old 1620 AM Stereo station was from Toronto, but it's been so many years ago I can't remember?

143
Was the broadcast itself in AM Stereo or were they just id'ing as such? There used to be a legit AM stereo station in Eastern North America that used 1620.

144
There's one in the 30 watt range west of there in Horse Cave, KY. that gets out too. Both of those towns are along the area in the Cumberland Mts. where the bedrock shifts from sandstone in the east to limestone in the west. It seems to make a difference in MW propagation in the region.

Horse Cave is just south of Mammoth Cave on I-65. Lot's of distillery's in that area but you can't buy the products in the area. They're all dry counties.

Where will we get "The Cod Report"?

146
I know Philco was making them in that era, I've seen advertising copy on the interweb from that era from them. If they were making them, I would think any radio manufacturer from that era worth it's salt was making the things to keep up.

Popular Communications used to have articles about this stuff, including one about a church radio station that modified an early schematic for a phono oscillator to set up a radio station, which they managed to get licensed. They were shut down by the agency that preceded the FCC due to the fact that their frequency shifted wildly when large trucks and cars went by the church. The antenna was strung from the steeple to a post in the churchyard facing a busy street. They were either a 5 or 10 watt station.

147
Sorry Charlie, wrong again. See what happens when you assume, Mr. Nuevo Wavo?

148
His transmitter is more stable than he is. Not unheard of in pirate radio.

He needs to get in touch with Zeeky. They can be anti-Semitic transmitting buddies.

Nah, I'm in the same state as the Mushroom Man.

I worry about him. Growing the funny mushrooms is a felony. Talking about doing it when you're running high power and you can be recorded and df'ed is stupid. The funny mushrooms grow wild here, all he's got to do is walk into a pasture and pick them? He should stick to snakes, strychnine, and bad moonshine like the Good Lord intended.

It was a nice signal for 35 watts of thundering AM power.
