Either that or he's someone who was having fun. His style of tiles may have turned into a ladder conspiracy once they were noticed by others, who thought making their own would be fun. Once something like that starts rolling, the creator has no control over the copycats.

It reminds me a bit of the Ummo Letters. The guys behind that hoax did it for over 40 years, before the fellow who came up with it confessed. There are still people out there running with that one.

Hmmmm....... and I thought I was the only yodeler in Pirate Radio.

Yodeling in sideband, it just ain't right. Forgive him Slim Whitman.

General Radio Discussion / Attention, Al Fansome......

There's a super full moon tonight, time to check the tire pressure and top it off, if needed.

The Deguello is what the Mexican Army played before the final assault on the Alamo. Probably Mexican military types sending a greeting to their neighbors to the north for the Fourth.

No mention of Al Fansome or tire pressure? Obviously a fake.

Equipment / Re: Outdoor vs. Attic Antennas

If you've got aluminum siding, you're might essentially be inside a Faraday Cage.

So since my apartment has an aluminum roof I'm inside a Faraday Outhouse?
                                                        Yeah, I like that!
Regretting your choice of pill yet,  8)  Mr. Anderson?

So you bought the old Fansome place, eh Nella? How's Capt. Ron's box holding up?

Hitch, 30-40 feet of wire going out the window to a nearby bush/tree will work fine. Keep it up high enough so the neighbors don't get tangled up.

You can try other types of antennas as you gain more experience.

A lot of British pilot/observer training in the WWI took place on the Salisbury Plain. They were stunned by the features that couldn't be seen from the ground.

When the British received their post-war Mandate over Palestine, the Trans-Jordan and Iraq, aerial archaeology came into it's own. The dry climate and minimal water erosion preserved thousands of years cultural accumulation on or near the surface.

An American archaeologist using a small drone recently found a major Chacoan outlier in New Mexico. Drones look like the affordable wave of the future in aerial archaeology.

They found what they think was a school for scribes there. A small cuneiform tablet was uncovered.  It translates roughly to, "Why is old man Fansome always pickin' on me?"

It was signed "Methuselah". Do you think????...Nah........

I never knew they could fly? Yet another reason to avoid Florida.

General Radio Discussion / Re: has anyone ever thought about...

We know the religious shows have excess money (they can afford to air shows that nobody listens to). I assume the shows come from a church that has a budget for "missionary work" or "spreading the gospel".

That, and a lot of them beg for money on the air, so that the missionary work also becomes a revenue source.

Quote
I assume the churches need listeners so I think the church would pay a person to make interesting/funny things to bring listeners to the main show. I'm thinking of 2min "commercials" of funny stuff not related to religion at all.

You probably don't understand fundamentalists then.  Most fundie Christians eschew anything that's "worldly," or not specifically Christian.  And it seems most of them don't see a need to "bring listeners to the main show" because a lot of them assume that God will send them listeners.

I knew a Holy Roller preacher when I was a kid. He was driving his wife and kids back from the store. According to his wife he let go of the wheel and said "Lord, take over!" They went over the hill, striking a large tree. Everyone survived but the preacher.

My Grandpa said it was proof of evolution.

Huh? / Re: TV Antenna?

I use a homemade folded dipole set in an upstairs window with a 4:1 balun. It works well, but I live on a hill.  The antenna is in a window facing the direction of the sticks of the the local network affiliates, with a nice clear view.

A similar thing happened in Mexico late in the last century and early in this one. The Mexican govt. asked the Israeli's to help them  The Israeli's equipped and trained a group of Mexican soldiers as an elite commando force to battle the cartels.

A sizable group of these soldiers broke away from government control after being deployed, taking their equipment,(including advanced communications), with them and formed their own cartel. You've probably heard of them, Los Zetas.

You've got to watch what you ask for. Sometimes it turns around and bites you in the ass.
