General Radio Discussion / Re: Predicting the 6925 skip zone

Even the Cubans on 49 meters were barely audible last night. Things didn't improve until you dialed down to 60 meters.

Interestingly, the AM'er's on 75/80 were raving about the great conditions down there.

General Radio Discussion / Re: Entire GLONASS system fails

You probably need to make a cup out of an old bike helmet to protect your Gonads from GLONASS failure, Al.

I still vote Papoon in every presidential election.

When I was a boy, the term "blood moon" referred to the first full moon after Halloween. It was when you slaughtered hogs and steers for the year. It was a common term.

A lunar eclipse like the one described here was called "Blood on the Moon". It was generally considered a bad omen by old folks.

Didn't they teach you to read the Signs at Cal Tech, Al?

That could explain your tire pressure problems. You put air your tires only during the new moon. A full moon draws the air out.

Fansome's trailer.

5946
How's the atomic tire pressure gauge coming along, Al?

Huh? / Re: Boomer goes Hollywood

My kid told me that Boomer was going to be on Tosh.0, but I managed to miss it.

Boomer is smarter than Dr. Phil by a long shot. He could have big fun messing with the guy.

I could get some audio in USB, but the fisherman on the frequency in LSB were killing him. If I hadn't seen this post, I would have had no idea who it was.

The tx times look like he follows the "transmit while the wife is out of the house" school of radio piracy.

5950
Wasn't that a couple of months after you started firing pallets of refried beans into the sun, Al?

You and that damned Mentos based missile technology.

5951
I bet Fansome is already on it. He could transmit and live at the place.

I worry about him wandering up and down the East Coast in that old goat wagon of his.

5952
I haven't seen that one, but "Dad's Army" was a favorite when I was in my early teens.

5953
Not only were there RTTY and fishermen there, but I could hear another pirate in USB below PPVR fading in and out.

As Chris said in his separate logging of them around 2:50 UTC, they were rock solid then with minimal interference.

5954
Or "40 meter amplifier kits".

5955
Because all the cool dx'ers like Al Fansome live on the East Coast.
