Equipment / Re: Lazy H Antenna

Do you have the height for a 1/4 vertical? They're not directional, but I've found that they tend to grab weak signals much better than a dipole.

I used one for the 60 meter broadcast band for years. It gave me audible signals earlier in the day than any antenna I tried there. My other antennas would be picking up up hets or zilch at the same time.

If you don't have the height for a vertical, a Beverage on the ground may do the trick if you've got the land oriented towards Western Europe to do it.

C'mon guys. Hell if I'm not mistaken, it's a illegal to use a 2 or 3 gallon pre-ban assault toilet over a 1.5 gallon in your home. This surprises you?

They'll get my 5 gallon thrones when they pry 'em from my cold dead ass.

Equipment / Re: Some Thoughts on Resonant Loop Antennas

I remember building the Radio Netherlands MW loop years ago. I had to make it a bit smaller than the one square meter they recommended.

That thing wouldn't tune up for MW below about 800 kHz. due to the compromised size, but it had good coverage through the 90 meter broadcast bands. Heck, it worked on 40 meters if I decoupled a few turns.

Loops are easy to build and are stellar performers during the summer static season. I love the things.

I dunno, looks like a freeze dried booger on the lens to me.

Damned Nerds. There should be a symposium on swirlies and wedgies for ex and aspiring bullies next door. Afterwards the bullies could adjourn to the Leet Lounge for live demonstrations and practice. That would be synergy at it's finest.

Who wants to dunk Al first?

Hey Al, get off of my cloud.

6127
Al could use a lot of things, like regular showers.

You'd be surprised at how often it happens. You're knocking around in an ancient library wandering the stacks and shelves then suddenly you realize your lost. Adso was a novice, he didn't know you always bring a back-up robe for just such emergencies.

He did know her name, though I can't recall it now. It meant, "The girl most likely to be a witch", in the medieval Appian Vulgate of the day. I understand it's modern equivalent would be "Snookie".

"Well, it looks like we've found ourselves in a Labyrinth, young Adso. Tie the thread on the bottom of your cloak to the table leg in the room you're in. Now take a lantern and keep turning right as you descend, I'll do the same and turn to the left." Fr. William of Baskerville

With a name James Careless, what do you expect?

Mention of CB popped up in a little snippet in this months Monitoring Times. He will be "on vacation for many, many months" according to the author.

I wonder if the old fart has finally got locked up?

Chris, do something about the old coot. He's gone around the bend, into the brush and down the bunny hole.
