Belinda only goes for nattily attired men, like me.

Sometimes you can be so envious, Al.

Who was the ham that used to produce and air shows around 3880 khz.? He was the most hated man in ham radio for awhile. Even the print mags complained about him.

I haven't heard him in 6 or 7 years. I hope he's doing ok? Other than Timtron and his buds going off on a shaggy dog stories about finding "serious modulatin' arn" for nothing or some such other subject, that guy was the only thing worth tuning for on 80 meters.

I thought I'd heard he'd died years ago?

I saw Slim perform the National Anthem at the 1981 Peach Bowl. I'd heard he always wore red socks. You couldn't tell during the performance as he was standing. I happened to see him signing autographs at the half. From the side I could see under the table. There were the famous red socks.

When my wife makes me go somewhere dressy, I always put on my blue suit, black cap toed shoes, and a pair of red socks in honor of Slim. People always comment on them or look our way in admiration during the event.

Oddly, she never wants to go back to those places. She must be envious of all the attention I get?

I once grew a pencil mustache in honor of Slim, too. But that's another wife and another story.

Rest In Peace, Slim. Ace Cannon and Boxcar Willie were but pale imitators of you.

I've got my current Firefox browser set up to clear cookies after every session which helps......... but I just ran a spyware check of my computer before I logged on. I normally do it on Sunday and I've found I average about one piece of the crap a month.

This past Sunday, I found the monthly turd. This morning when running a new check I found eight more. Something is up on the interwebz.

My guess is it was triggered by the announcement that Yahoo was going to free up old unused email addy's for new users? I would think that hackers that keep Yahoo addresses as backups weren't happy about hearing that.

Use the turd blaster of your choice and check your computers.

Yup something is up with Yahoo mail. Before I came over here my station account showed that I had message from "Commander" about the topic "Commander Bunny" coming from the old Rodent Revolution site.

As I'm the last guy in the world he would be emailing about anything, something is fishy in Yahooland.

Firearms and explosives work well for off-site noise sources. You'd be amazed at what slug from a 12 gauge shotgun can do for power line transformer noise. It's recommended that you fire from no less than 30 yards out and wear hearing protection.

from Turkey. Is it still on shortwave?

It could make for some very interesting listening with the events going on there.

One of my cousins was stationed at one of those places, near Thule in Greenland back in the early 70's. He joined the Air Force to avoid combat duty in S.E. Asia. He got what he wanted.

His response after coming back was, "I'd have rather been shot at."

We still call him "Eskimo Ted".

Pat does know how to win friends and influence people.

You're reaching with this one,Al. Stick to obsessing over Amelia Earhart and buzzing the Earth in your truck.

Andy Yoder and I refer to him as the Nikola Tesla of Pirate Radio, Lex.

What's the video can't show is what happens to your attitude after meeting him. Once you start talking to him you realize how bright he is and how broad and deep his knowledge is on a myriad of topics. You forget about the dog stuff about five minutes in and are boggled by his mind.

Plus he's a real cool guy to hang out with.

I just received an email from Boomer. He says there are more clips from the show on his website, if you folks are interested. It's www.boomerthedog.net
