CW station ID as good ol' KCPR, howdy dude!

There was a fun cowboy song earlier. Sounded funny in usb, "I'm a cowboy" Like he just inhaled helium. Sorry but I need to rest my brains with sleep now, good night!

SDR - Software Defined Radio / Afedri dual channel receivers
« on: June 09, 2014, 0459 UTC »
Afedri's site has 2 SDR receivers to choose from with dual channels that I am stoked about. I want one so I can use antenna diversity and therefore reduce fading of my received signals!  Or I could use it as 2 separate receivers in one and view different spectrum from each.

AFEDRI SDR-Net x2 Dual Channel

AFE822x SDR-Net ( Dual Channel )

I'm going to study these up. I don't know the difference between the 2 besides the physical stuff.  I need to get some sleep so I have more mental bandwidth to study with.

General Radio Discussion / SDR direction finding
« on: June 09, 2014, 0418 UTC »
Say I have an hour's worth of SDR recording from an SDR receiver with dual channel input (2 receiving antennas).
Can I find the direction of all the transmissions that are within the spectrum of that hour that I recorded?

General Radio Discussion / Chinese RF interfering electronics
« on: June 06, 2014, 0313 UTC »
I have an idea regarding RF interfering TVs and power supplies and electronics.
I assume the Chinese govt. pays for the China Radio International radio show. What if those listeners with radio interference wrote to CRI complaining about the interference and blame it on electronics from China? Maybe China's govt. would crack down on devices leaving their country so we can hear the beloved CRI show more clearly?

Equipment / Inverted V on steep hillside
« on: June 02, 2014, 2109 UTC »
So if an inverted V is on level ground, it has a radiation pattern that goes up.  Say you have a steep hill and place the inverted V so that it is perpendicular to the angle of the slope.  The radiation pattern should then go at an angle and be useful for directional skip, no?  Possibly badass directional skip?

How to explain it. Its like an 80's keyboard making sounds.  "Beow bump. Beow-beow-beow bump. Bump buh-buh-buh bump."

I'm pretty sure it fades in and out.

General Radio Discussion / Firedrake music genre
« on: May 10, 2014, 0017 UTC »
When I'm in the right mood, I can listen to Firedrake, the Chinese jamming station. But most of the time it comes off as brash and annoying.  The other day I was under the influence and listening to it. It was pretty cool, the song ended with a stringed instrument that sounded like a bird calling out.
So I'm interested in the music. It sounds patriotic. And it could be 100s of years old for all I know, they are an old culture and the instruments sound traditional.
Can anybody share some background on the music?
What is the genre of music that is played?

Equipment / Tips on broomstick receiving antenna
« on: April 30, 2014, 0434 UTC »
I wound 147' of 20 gauge insulated wire around a pvc pipe with outer diameter of 1 5/8".  It doesn't work that well.
Do I need a smaller diameter form?
Do I need the capacitive hat on the top (an aluminum disc)?
Does it work better with a tuner?
Thanks
