SDR - Software Defined Radio / Anybody try a stick PC with an SDR?
« on: December 17, 2015, 2350 UTC »
I just discovered stick PCs. They are small computers that plug into a TV's HDMI input port.

Does anybody know if these little guys can handle an SDR?

I had and S5 signal that moved up to an S7 by the end. I liked the last song by The Cure. Here's my SSTV, I think it would have been perfect if it werent for the lightning in the Central US.

0246usb, S3-S5 here, low noise levels.
When I started listening, I heard background music from the documentary,Koyaanisqatsi. Then there's a story being told.  I made out the words, "uterus" and "the anti-virgin."  Pretty disturbing altogether. I hope it doesn't leave a funk on my SDR. :)

S-8 here, awesome programming! Mighty strong signal.

I heard it, its off now. 7385am here. It sounded Christian music so I'd say it wasn't a pirate.

You could camouflage the loop by painting it white and putting fake vines and flowers on it like its a garden arch. And put a pretty box over the capacitor and paint some silly flower design on it.
Or you could also get some plastic lattice and fill in the loop with it. And put vines and large fake butterflies on it.

Here's some info from the web that I found after a month of obsessing over the mag loop things (its in my post down the page):

S5 signal level here, it had a nice transition from sound effects into the song.

You could also try a magnetic loop. Those things are high performance for their size. Make a 9' diameter bad boy out of plumbing copper pipe!

0145utc Just got more powerful. Punk song. Now one with lots of percussion, and a keyboard.
0318utc Still going while I peruse the 'net.
