The receiver never did lock onto it, after several hours of trying. Unknown if the local QRM 95-98 kHz is killing the signal or if they're transmitting something that isn't LORAN-C compatible.

Hearing LORAN chattering away on 100 kHz.

Unable to ID them, possibly Dana & Seneca are at it again (but I'm unsure).

However, nothing on the LORAN-C receiver. Its been on for about 15 minutes so far.

War is one thing to worry about. Another is the sun sending a whole pile o' nasty phenomena that cleans out the orbits.

And speaking of our dear old friend, sounds like a station is transmitting there now. Pulled out the $25 LORAN-C receiver and waiting to see if it can use it. Have local QRM around 96 kHz.

I suspect that the KFI relay from this weekend and the previous relays of the "True Oldies Station" are the same one. No proof, however, just casual observation.

While I don't mind the local 1690, do wish they would stick to daytime only so as not to block CHTO from Toronto. I like Greek music.

To save $40 million?

The 2010 total spending was around $3.6 trillion and federal revenue around $2.1 trillion.

Spending 3,600,000,000,000 and worrying about 40,000,000? That's 0.0011.1%. $40M is utterly irrelevant.

There are estimates that POTUS spent $85M of taxpayer money on vacations over the past 8 years.


No, there's something else going on here.


And I sure hope that LORAN-C/eLORAN are put in operation. I spent a good $25 on a LORAN-C receiver last fall, and $25 to me is worth a whole lot more then $40M to the feds.

Russian Cat is an interesting one- decodes are far apart. Yet, the only other 100 baud stations on the frequency (313.0 kHz) is Kodiak, AK and in India. Can pretty much rule out India, but Kodiak? Or was it Russian Cat? Or noise?

I've noticed that. There are a few others that seem to decode falsely on a schedule. Not sure what can cause that, unless its due to some other message type (other than 6 & 9) that's not decoding correctly. Some of the other types are sent infrequently.
