ID at 0230Z and signal is S7, but a ton of static crashes which drowns it. When the static crashes subside, then X-FM sounds great.

Have heard of Yosemite, but never heard it.

That video is interesting- it said there was embedded data in there. That would lend some credence to the gov't (contractors or otherwise) as this is perhaps a test of embedding data into seemingly innocuous messages. Different freqs for testing propagation of this mode.

Is it still on the air today?

Read the headline & the first part and thought they found a pirate radio ship. Was wondering what treasures could be on that thing- transmitters, large cache of tubes, unreleased or lost music? Only to find out its just coins, gold, and guns.

2340Z 15331 S5 Signal slowly fading into the noise.

Signal is up & down.

This is definitely not the 1690 music station that I've been hearing the past ~6 months during the day.


The expanded band stations are rolling in. Sunset at 0043Z, about an hour from now.  WVON on daytime power (10kW NDA[1]) until 0000Z.

12040 kHz has a station in Mandarin with what sounds like the Firedrake under it.
11990 // 12040 with only the Mandarin language
11760 // 12040 with the Mandarin and a second Spanish language sta under that.
11615 // 12040 with only the Mandarin language
11500 // 12040 with only the Mandarin language


Skeds for these:
12040 VoA in Mandarin & CNR1 Jammer
11990 VoA in Mandarin & CNR1 Jammer
11760 Sound of Hope, CNR1 Jammer & RHC
11615 VoA in Mandarin & CNR1 Jammer

Based on the schedules, it appears the Mandarin I'm hearing is CNR1. Interestingly, 12040 is being jammed by both CNR1 & Firedrake.


All of them disappeared at 1500Z, including both CNR1 & Firedrake on 12040.

We have a local 5kW daytimer on 770 that's fairly wide that takes out 760, so once they came on, that was it for KMTL for around here. At least until tonight.

Discovered that WJR had company tonight. Nulled out WJR and the other station peaked N-S. They gave a nice long ID around 0423Z as 760 KMTL in Sherwood, AR. Station is putting in a good 45433 at max with fades down to 15421

Found them around 0315Z playing music with no breaks (that I heard) until 0423Z with the ID. Checked again at 0455Z and gave their ID again, then back into music.


The odd thing is that they're a 10kW non-directional daytimer and 0455Z is way past sunset. The FCC says their sun sets at 0015Z, and in August the FCC sunset time was 0100Z.

Somebody forgot to shut off the transmitter.

Closest station to me near Milwaukee and its currently reading 13. In looking at its history, Fri afternoon it went up to 21! That's nearly 2x as much.

That completely explains why I was unproductive at work and why a lot of people were gone. Apparently, I could sense this anomoly subconsciously and consumed a bunch of vodka when I got home to prevent radiation poisoning. Now will have more today to make sure I'm fully protected.
