1600 KPNP is a Hmong station about 18 miles from my QTH and it has issues. Tuned in now and the audio is a bit muffled. Earlier this summer/spring they had some other audio problem that made it nearly unlistenable.

We have another Hmong station 690 KFXN. Its 500 W during the day with a pattern to the ESE (~105 degrees).  At night, the pattern is very similar but they turn the power way, way, way down. Down to 4 W. They're 3 miles to the ENE of me and I can't pick them up at night, however I'm off the side of the pattern in one of the nulls.

(the power & pattern info is from the FCC, not from any actual info)

The Who have announced that their touring days are over and that they will bow out with a final set of gigs to mark their 50th anniversary in 2015.

The legendary rockers, whose first album My Generation was released in 1965, have sold more than 100 million records and kept touring despite the death of founding members Keith Moon and John Entwistle. Singer Roger Daltrey, 69, and guitarist Pete Townshend, 68, were last night in Hammersmith for the screening of Sensation — The Story Of The Who’s Tommy, a documentary on the making of their 1969 rock opera.

Townshend said: “For the 50th anniversary we’ll tour the world. It’ll be the last big one for us. There are still plenty of places we’ve not played. It would be good to go to eastern Europe and places that haven’t heard us play all the old hits.”

Both stars have had to deal with debilitating illnesses. Townshend suffered from the hearing condition tinnitus and Daltrey needed regular throat checks after having a pre-cancerous growth removed in 2010.

A source close to the band said the pair now plan to work on solo projects.

Daltrey’s will be his first in more than 20 years. The singer this year hinted that The Who were considering marking their anniversary after witnessing how well the Rolling Stones’ half-century concerts in London and the US were received.

A special-edition box set of Tommy is out on November 11.

I checked about 15 minutes after you and saw nothing. Loop was N-S so I should've heard Baudette, MN with no problems. I used to hear it well, at least before Feb 8, 2010.

LORAN is back on now.

No, really, it is. I have two stations on the Great Lakes chain, at 1205z.

Now that's what I'm talking about. And very glad its back.

A short time after posting my previous message, received this spam in the mail with the subject:

We were told of the shutdown of HAARP. Yet, its not really being shutdown.

We were also told that LORAN-C was shutdown in Feb 2010. Yet, there have been recent tests of the LORAN transmitters.

Hearing R Rebelde under R Enciclopedia on 530.

Verified as it as R Rebelde as its // 5025 (nearly so, 530 is a fraction of a second behind 5025).

This is the second Cuban I've caught. Two in one night. Stumbled across them while looking for Mexico.

Very strong at the top of the hour, 45424 S9. Gave clear ID "Radio Enciclopedia."

0420Z SINPO on R Enciclopedia is 32423, due to the co-channel interference from R Rebelde. Rebelde is approximately the same. Both are fading up & down.

First Cuban I've caught on MW.

Hearing three distinct stations:
- Radio Enciclopedia
- Radio Rebelde
- CIAO

Fortunately, CIAO is straight east of me and Cuba is south, so can null CIAO.

I didn't move it... was about to until I saw it was already where it belonged.

Earlier, heard 26110 from ? and it was doing fair. Until they went off. Maybe next time.

Not hearing that one nor any other of the STLs in 25-26 MHz around 2000Z. Only a few scattered weak freebanders.

Its definitely around here. One day I happened to be driving around when it was on and as I drove a few miles east, it dropped out.

Tuned in 1320Z this morning to see what's on and the x-band (1620-1700) is still going strong. Tuned to 1690 and hearing a talk show, which is WVON from Chicago. Rotated the loop and heard "Monster Mash," but it ID'd as R Disney, which is KDDZ from CO. These stations will be going away in the near future as the sun continues to rise and energizes the D layer.
