If you would like to discover a new and unusual music genre for your station's broadcasts - check out the exciting "back to roots" musical movement of the cigar box guitar. This is another passion of mine and the cbg musicians very much share the same "status quo" sucks attitude of the pirate radio crowd. If you live in the Philadelphia area see the information below (from Shane Speal - The King of the Cigar Box Guitar) for a chance to see for yourself what I'm talking about.

All,
Just a reminder that the New Jersey Cigar Box Guitar Fest is just a
few days away! The show is on Saturday, May 10th at the Auction House
in Audobon, NJ, just 15 minutes from Philadelphia. Get more
information on the venue at their website, http://www.auctionhouseevents.com

Performing this year are Gerry Thompson, One String Willie/David
Williams, tiMOTHy (aka Timothy Renner) and myself. I will have many
instruments from the National Cigar Box Guitar Museum on display, too.
If you've never seen a cigar box guitar concert, believe me, I'm
sharing the stage with some of the best talent in the entire movement.
Tickets are just ten bucks.

IN OTHER NEWS, Max Shores is finishing up the Songs Inside the Box
documentary and still needs your pictures!!! He's looking for
pictures of people building cigar box guitars, playing cigar box
guitars, having fun with cigar box guitars and...well, you get the
idea. Please send a couple hi-resolution pictures of yourself or your
kids (neighbor's kids?) caught in the act of CBG. It just may make
the documentary and you'll be a star! Send them to
max(at)maxconnections.com

Well, that's all I have. I will be offline for the rest of the week
and won't be able to check email until next Monday. If anyone needs
me, email me today before 5 or just call anytime if you have my number.

Expect the best CBG show yet this Saturday...

North American Shortwave Pirate / Re: Pacific based Pirate...

41 meters has made the trip from East Coast to West Coast very well as early as 0530-0600 utc.
So it should work in reverse  :) - if that time frame would work for you.
On week-ends you can find nuts errrrrrr I mean East Coast DXer's like me still listening in that 1:30-2am local time range, especially if you announce your intention to broadcast. 0800 utc would not have many East Coasters, but I would think you could interest the Western half DXers.

General Radio Discussion / Re: Attic Antenna
« on: April 10, 2008, 0511 UTC »
I ended up just tacking up 100 feet of 16 guage speaker wire center fed with a Budwig Hye-Que Connector and coax through a MFJ 1045C Preslector. I already had all of these except for the wire, so I went with what I had.  It works, but no where near as good as the dipole which is back up outside about 35 feet above ground.....which I guess comes as no surprize ;D

That old man screaming would be Uncle Bob.  The crazy old coot is off his medication once again. He was also up to his hijinks last night. He gets into Mr Sycko's studio and fires up Sycko's xmiter  :)

It may have been two different stations...but anything is possible with the Syckoman. Mr. Sycko has an unknown number of alter pirate radio personalities.  He is one wild and creative guy. He may show up anywhere at anytime and in any format or formats  ;D

One of the things I love about Simple Machines forum is that you can go back and edit the subject.  That has always bugged the crap out of me on the FRN......not being able to edit an UNID post to change UNID to the station name (if you got an ID later in the broadcast) or correct spelling errors.....it's no problem here 8)
