Fellow free radio enthusiasts,

Below is the text I've posted on wbcq.com and worldmicroscope.com concerning the frn. I'll keep you posted on those sites and here as we learn more.

The website for the Free Radio Network (FRN) and it's active message board are hosted in Joplin, Missouri, which on May 22 was the site of a devastating tornado outbreak. As a result the site is currently offline. At this time we have not been able to contact John Cruzan, the server's owner and long time free radio enthusiast and sponsor of the FRN.

We will keep you informed as we learn more about this situation. Please keep the residents of Joplin in your thoughts.

A local daytimer here, WDMV 700 is back on the air as of Monday, January 11, 2010. They were off the air for most of the past year after their owner went chapter 11 in a big family spat. They're running a weird mix of Beatles anthology out-takes, fifties music, twangy  old country, and an occasional 80s rock song. No commercials, and only an overlay station ID at the TOH.

Despite their license they haven't shut down at sunset at all this week. They were on at least past 8PM the past couple of nights, eventually losing out to WLW. So if anyone out there hears a song by the Flying Burrito Brothers on 700 it's sure to be WDMV violating their license.

A spammer registered on the wiki and at 1956 on 12 January added a URL to an article. Check the recent changes. I reverted the spam; suggest to kill the account.

General Radio Discussion / Updated free radio archives
« on: January 04, 2010, 0014 UTC »
Friends,

I have re-arranged our RNI archives site, so there's a new URL to get to the pirate archive hosted there. The new place is here:

 http://radionewyorkinternational.com/archives/pirate/

There is also a huge collection on our Area 51 web site. A portal to the collections is here:

 http://www.worldmicroscope.com/?page_id=674

or, if you prefer, you can get to the Area 51 archives directly here:

 http://worldmicroscope.com/archives/

Regards,

Lw
