Shortwave Broadcast / Re: USA jamming Cuba now?

For the past week or so on 12000kHz when RHC (Radio Havana Cuba) is scheduled to be on there has been a jamming noise on it.
It's actually not a harmonic. The US is jamming the 12000kHz signal. I located the source to be from the Alabama/Georgia/Florida State line. It's strongest on the Tallahassee and Birmingham Kiwi SDRs
Supposedly, thats just a harmonic.

I've never gotten understandable audio out of 12000.. it's usually just a messy rumble pile of noise and s&^t

I highly doubt the US government is jamming 12000khz.. it makes no logical sense, why theyd jam what is/was at one point and is ntoed as such on some websites, as a harmonic of RHC.......

If they wanted to jam something, theyd jam an actual RHC broadcast like 6000.  I'm sure the US has jammed stuff in the past on SW, but no lately these days that im aware of... if they did, theyd be no better than China jamming RFA, etc

Hearing it on SDR's doesnt mean a ton with SW... doesnty mean its coming from the AL/GA/FL state loine and fort all we know its a ham or someone with too much time on their hands.

Heck, WJHR in FL on 15555 is it? Uses old beaten down ham gear ... im not saying its them, what im saying is.. its not toop hard to broadcast on SW.

And if it wasnt a harmonic of 6000, whosever jamming it is runnign serious power for me to hear it in AK

1952 - I've got it with fair reception (choppy/noisy) with East Asian instrumental music.  Likewise, I checked several sites and could only find RFI on this frequency at 0700 utc.
1600 - OFF

Found this while scanning the bands. The only station scheduled for this frequency is RFI, and they're only on 0700-0730z. I took a chance and used Shazam, which identified the music as "Days of Emancipation" by a Chinese composer named Zhu Changyao. The audio quality is much like The Firedrake when I can copy that here, so I suspect this is also being broadcast from somewhere in China. As of 1912 as I type this, it's still only music airing uninterrupted.

Dont know how you were listening at 1952 and it went off at 1600... i assume a typo.

It went off on 15345 at 1831UTC, 15145 broadcasting the same thing went off at 1833 (1031am and 1033am in alaska, UTC -8)

Had them quite well here.

Given electricity shortages in Cuba it's surprising they would waste energy jamming what's not even there....or why they'd bother jamming at all given the impossibility of blocking the whole MW band.

youd be surprised... ive heard them jamming stuff that signed off hours ago or that change frequency days/weeks ago and in some cases, jamming themselves.. its been going on for years

One time, cuba used the same frequency later in the day as Marti did, 11860......  and i heard their jammer on 11860 when cuba was running regular programming and marti had signed off

I'm guessing 6180 is 250kw not 250w!

I'm pretty sure RN de Amazonias is only 100kw .. they used to be 250kw i think, but theyre 100kw now

If they were 250kw id hear them in my fillings up here, for as strong as they are now at 100kw

Don't know if this belongs here but Cuba has started jamming two new frequencies out of the normal HF bands. 7943kHz and 7954kHz. It's definitely Cuba as it's strongest near the Florida Kiwis.

EDIT. As I just sent it they turned off on those two frequencies

I wonder if thats the jammy jam jammer masheen having a little spread spectrum action, because that's not the ham or broadcast band.

Cubas jammers are sometimes just short of running amuck. I caught them the other night on 9565, 4 hours AFTER Marti had signed off that frequency.. still pulsing away.

XEPPM is heard nightly here in Alaska, very good in the winter

Iveh eard it up here in Alaska several times, but were not really the "mainland" lol

ive heard it up here in Alaska.... pretty rough, but its .. "There"

0240UTC Mar 20 into McGrath alaska with piano/jazz type music... pretty weak and noisy.......i heard someone speaking.. in the mush it sounded like english, but verry accented english

TEF6686, 15 ft wellbrook loop, emtech zm2 antenna tuner and DXEngineering preamp

One of my first ever pirates heard on 6.9x up here... ive heard Cupid on 15mhz something and Mix on 12200 something.. but i dont think anything around 6.9 before in 3 1/2 years

This just absolutely slams in  to my Alaska QTH with my big loop, preamp and antenna tuner.

Excellent reception, Spanish service.  Cannot find Radio Marti's own frequency schedule but there is not a listing for this frequency for Radio Marti on any online database I searched.

1718 2 YL talking
1723 Radio Marti ID

I wonder if some orgs are testing A24 freqs ahead of the launch.. ive caught a few things all of a sudden, some very well.. that ive never heard before

They've been coming in with actual audio more often here lately as well. I like their choice of 7260 much better than 9960, though I still miss the great harmonic reception on 11835.

11835 was just absolutely bangin' here in AK just about every night

7260 is at least fair, and often good.. but not as good as 11835 was.

About 0710UTC, I checked my radio one last time before bed Mar 7 and noted Vanuatu in with a good signal.

First time I’ve heard them on air in months, last time was early last fall maybe, on 9960, drowned out by WRMI 9955.

I haven’t heard 7260 in 6 plus months.. if they’re on, I WILL hear them
