15 June 2012

I'm seeing what appears to be a weak LINK-11 in the range of 6940 to 6943kHz, about S4.
Just went off at 2027z.
Anybody else catch this?

Naw.  Had the receiver recording on 6925.040 USB even though there were storms approaching.  Checked the audio at the times you noted, and nothing here except for lightning.

On 0225z with TZ, IDs, "Sweet Home Alabama", "Voodoo Child"
0233 IDs, "Night Moves"
0301 "LaGrange", "Jet Airliner"
0313 off

Very noisy, and the band looks dead here, but CM is in at S9 to +15.

Thanks Captain Morgan!

I captured 2 tests  from BOR in an overnight recording last night.  Both had similar content, and began with VVVs.  I had to use my ear which is even iffier than Sealord's decoder which is iffier than Dimbulb's ear.

First Test 0355 - 0357UTC (weaker):    http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?6w5ctldfr2tbb5o
Second Test 0537 - 0540UTC (stronger):    http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?68c59k9cnodfkfs

Thanks BOR!

Recorder Catch; weak and at the noise floor

0353 First audio noted; OM talk, followed by a couple of songs I could not ID.
0406 Definite Blue Ocean Radio ID
0407 BOR addy, followed by more unid music.
0438 BOR ID, addy, followed by unid music
0512 BOR ID, addy - this was the strongest ID heard
0514 last audio I heard in the recording

Thanks BOR!
Tonight, due to the tuning on the rx, it was far easier to understand spoken word than music.

After Radio Ronin c/d, it sounded like 3 SSTV images were sent in AM in fairly quick succession until around 0209z.  All were very weak here, and none would decode.  Anyone get these?

5395
0100 Carrier on and shogun IS
0102 ID, ELO - Here Is the News, AC/DC - Shoot to Thrill, something by Aerosmith, Golden Earring - TZ
0120 YL, OM IDs, 3DD - Kryptonite
0137 Doors - The Spy  --  QRM from another stn; sounded like a jaw harp here
0141 hrd dog bark QRM here
0202 contact info, "Till next time...", off

Ginormous signal here.
Picked up a really noticeable quick flutter, almost like a polar flutter, during Twilite Zone at 0119z; could have been QRM

Thank you Radio Ronin!

I use SDR-Radio for the most part.  It has a running Strength History window which can set it's viewport from 1 minute to 12 hours, and has a  screencap tool which saves the pane as a png.

Glad you could confirm a carrier in the first broadcast; I was beginning to second guess my logbook entry.

FWIW, here is a graph of the ops' signal strengths as heard here:

from 10900 to 9000 seconds is the 1st WPON BC
from 7200 to 3700 seconds is the 2nd WPON BC
from 3600 to 1300 seconds is the 3rd WPON BC
from 1200 to 1000 seconds is the "Bob Marley" BC

Noted 4 more SSTVs sent in AM at 0106, 0109, 0112, and 0117z.

0106 far too noisy and no demod
0109 very grainy image (the PRA books) as textim posted above (Scottie 1)
0112 far too noisy and no demod
0117  (Scottie 1)

Thanks.  Tried some different AM modes and filters here while they were coming in, but no workee...

Very weak in the noise at the times noted.  Pretty sure I heard an opening "This is a test transmission from Blue Ocean Radio..." in the first, and ID and addy in the second transmission.

Thanks BOR!
Thanks again Sealord!  I would have missed this without the heads up!
