0347 UTC: 189 KHz Iceland just heard playing Christmas music, also audio heard on the other Euro LW channels too: 162 France, 183 Germany, 198 BBC UK, etc.  Longwave has finally woken up here.

I caught this one on 1710 last night, sounds Spanish with a possible ID right at the beginning of this clip:

1710 Khz UNID 22NO12 0322 UTC.mp3

Their carrier was drifting all over causing it to stand out from the "regulars" on 1710.  New for me, but UNID as of now unless someone recognizes it.  I can say for certain that this wasn't Radio Celestial.

I'm hearing the "Big Q" on 1710 AM right now, 0115 UTC with oldies music and positive ID.  Great to hear this one again!  Signal all over the place from the noise to S8 on fade-ups.  Faded completely at 2022 UTC but now back again after a Chickenman episode, ID and into another oldies tune at 0128 UTC.

I'm also hearing "W807" in there from Chicago with talk about donating to a local charity or mission.

Caught this on 1710 KHz AM this morning during a good fade-up, no ID of course but I assume it's "W807" around the Chicago area:

I'm also hearing weak Jimmy Hendrix on 1710 KHz right now at 2330 UTC, presumably from the same station.

Always fun catching these stations at the top of the dial!

Shortwave Broadcast / North Korea (presumed) 2850 KHz 1230 UTC 11/7/12

Faint talk, sounds like an Asian language, then into instrumental type music after 1230 UTC.  Should be KCBS North Korea per EIBI.  Normally when I check this frequency, it's just a carrier, but this morning it was strong enough for a little audio to make it through.

No ID yet, but sounds like familiar music as I just tuned in.  S8-S9 with some rapid fading, strong audio - until 0320 UTC - open carrier now.

Signal took a big dive during the laptop reboot at 0336 UTC, no longer audible.

1710 KHz AM, 0414 UTC,  Pirate Radio Boston just signed on the air with 20th anniversary program featuring music, station history, etc.  Weak to fair on the fade-ups here with some competition from Radio Celestial and the NJ TIS station.  Wow - so great to hear you on the MW band!!!  Thanks!!!

Hearing the good Doc right now on 1710 KHz AM, I think.  Weak, but you can't mistake the dialog :-)

Update: Yes - IDs and email address at 0516 UTC and into the Freedom monologue.  The static is making reception a bit of a challenge but great hearing Undercover back on 1710 again!

Update: 0537 UTC and Undercover has either faded here completely or signed off.

North American MW Pirate Radio / 1710 KHz "W807" 0229 UTC 10/6/2012 - Pirate or Part 15?

Unid on 1710 KHz AM right now with deep fades with interference from co-channel Radio Celestial and the New Jersey TIS station.  I haven't caught any voice announcements or IDs yet.  Signal generally poor.

0223z: James Brown tune
0230z: Jefferson Starship  "Miracles"
0235z: Led Zeppelin tune
0246z: Collective Soul "The World I Know"
0256z: Nice fade-up to S7 with Evanescence "Wake me up Inside"
0302z: Aerosmith "Living on the Edge"
0320z: Good fade-up and ID heard that sounded like "WAO7" or "W8O7" and into ad for The Shop Tattoo Studio in Chicago.  Hmmmm...

Shortly after the ID at 0320z, this has now gone into an old-time radio program.  My first thoughts were the Antioch Part 15 station that runs old-time radio shows but it doesn't match their live web stream.

Will post some audio clips later.
