MW Loggings / Re: Unid Spanish talk on 1660 kHz 1143z 1-2-14

Bookmark this site: http://topazdesigns.com/ambc/aminfo.html  then select your AM frequency and it will return a list of all domestic stations on that frequency.  From there you are then able to search by format, showing only the stations that you care about (Spanish language stations in this instance).  Doing this for 1660 leaves the following Spanish stations: KTIQ, KXOL & WGIT Puerto Rico.  WGIT is probably more realistic over the others from your location, especially with the salt water path, and conditions were slightly auroral last night, meaning Southern stations had the advantage.

Interesting, thanks for the update.  Please record it, if you hear it again!

I don't know if this is worth mentioning, but a very faint AM carrier was noticed here on 1715 kHz at 0520 UTC while observing 1710 on the waterfall.  The carrier abruptly vanished at 0522 UTC.  I only mention this in case it was someone testing.  Not even close to audio here, but nonetheless, some activity on the frequency.

Undercover Radio in FM mode right now, S6-S7, audio coming through is a bit "thin" but good signal.  Audio went wider midway through the canned ID at 0222z.

Signal holding up the mode fairly well right now.

I hear Radhat, but very poor copy unfortunately here right now.

758
Copy here with S4 signal with live talk from the Doc on the challenges of operating on MW.  Thanks Undercover!

759
Nice copy on the barefoot DX-440 with the family gathered around the fireplace.  Thanks Wolverine!

Also caught the Dirty Water sign on, but soon lost despite a real quiet noise floor here.  Overtaken by the usual suspects on 1710.  0141z, starting to fade up slightly over the others.  Moved to 1720 at 0149z, S5-S6 copy.  VFO swished down to 1710 at 0241z.

I did a careful listen between 0555-0610 UTC on my recording and heard nothing like dance music here.  The only thing I heard was a faint Radio Celestial mixing with the Hudson County, NJ. TIS station.  Dance music with a heavy bass beat would have stood out, even if weak.  I wonder who it was?

Came on the air with Rush "Spirit of Radio", Johnny Cash's cover of "Hurt" right now at 0217z.  S4 and best here in USB to avoid 1700 splatter.  Over/under Radio Celestial.

763
Nice clear copy here in USB.

764
Came on around 0253z with Rush's Spirit of Radio, AC/DC Highway to Hell, Who's Teenage Wasteland, familiar Undercover Radio sound clips, etc.

Undercover Radio ID at 0319z

Possible live announcement at 0328z (signal fade)?

S4-S5 over a much quieter noise floor tonight.

Thanks for the broadcast!

QSO with Borderhunter Radio and into Pirate Radio Boston relay.  S4 with fading.  Peaks up to S7 now at 1800z.
