General Radio Discussion / Re: Great site radiodiscussions.com

On the plus side, it may mean more new members coming here

I only frequented the DX board on RD.  There was a good group of people on the DX board with interesting discussions outside the realm of just reporting logs.  It was mostly geared towards AM/FM BCB, but the topic of pirates did come up occasionally, generally without any resistance.  It would be great to welcome some of those users here and perhaps even provide a new board on this forum catered towards general AM/FM broadcast related discussions if there's enough interest.

I heard a European pirate (Radio Calypso) yesterday on 1638

You heard this from Ohio?  If so then congrats, that would be an awesome catch!  I have yet to catch any Euro pirates in the expanded band.  Way too many domestics to contend with here.

Until you become familiar with the band, use this for a station guide:

Congrats on the LW catches!

Hearing air raid sirens right now at 0434z, S3-S4 and something about "the emergency broadcast system".  The vocal audio is difficult to understand here.

I was trying to get an ID on the 6924.2 station when I noticed this came on the air about 0012z.  Weak here and all jumbled up with the peskies and the UNID 6924.2 station (which dropped off at 0019z).

Fair AM carrier here with possible weak audio at times.  S9 and clear copy again via Token's remote receiver in the Mojave Desert.  If anyone wants a recording then let me know and I'll post it later.

807
Weak but clear copy this afternoon, live chatter now at 2228z.  Thanks Renegade.

Hope Radio International comes to mind.

Poor copy here in MI. with just bits of audio.  S9 clear copy via Token's Perseus.  Here's what I caught including the sign-off announcement (at 0231z):

6075 kHz AM YHWH 23NO13 0228-0232 UTC.mp3

I've  learned that what I used to think was CIAO is instead a UNID (for me) Cuban station.

The elevator music, this would be Radio Enciclopedia, also from Cuba.

530 has many part 15 stations on it, and also some pirates. I'm not saying that that is what you caught, but could help you out sinc eits hard to ID 15's and pirates. I've caught 2 pirates on 530 before ( voice of elmer (a town south of me by 30 miles) and somebody re-transmitting the local noaa weather radio).

As for the NOAA relay, it's not unusual for licensed TIS/HAR stations to rebroadcast NOAA weather radio, so I'm guessing that wasn't a pirate that you heard.  On the other hand, I'd like to learn more about this "Voice of Elmer"!  I have yet to catch anything unusual on 530 myself, but then again I haven't paid much attention to the frequency since it's usually dominated here by CIAO.
