and

8138.86 KHz Dasher with a primary signal at 4069.43 and it's night time only  3/10/2024

I'm hearing it at home on 4069.43 and on the KFS Kiwi I can get that plus tune over to the second harmonic 8138.86

I am hearing 4069.43 at home and also looked on KFS Kiwi and I can hear both 4069.43 and the second harmonic at 8138.86

Here is a pix without any location data. Half wave dipole fed at the center located at the top of the pole. Electronics box is buried under the solar panel. At the top there is a horizontal black zip tie which has not been trimmed.

I was talking to a friend last night and he showed me pictures of a hobbyist style desert radio beacon that was on 4069 KHz. It was battery powered, solar charged and ran only at night. He and his friends discovered it while off roading (March 2023?) and they made repairs to the antenna and some other things. I'll see if he can share some of the pictures without giving away the location.

Welcome to the HFU forum!

I tried a few internet searches but had no hits on any sorts of Norwegian Navy beacons. Please ask you friend for more details on his hunch.

If the beacon turns out to be a military or commercial transmitter the topic would go into this part of the forum:

Utility:  Loggings of Utility Stations
https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/board,2.0.html

This area or the HFU forum where you have shared your logging is for unlicensed, or "pirate" radio beacons. Do take a look at many of the topics here as there have been pirate beacons in England and Europe too. Explore the rest of the Forum for many fascinating aspects of the radio monitoring hobby.

CS is more of a slow downward "whoop" than a "dash" so maybe you've found something new!

You can hear CS here:  http://69.27.184.58:8073/?f=4109.500cwz11

HF Beacons / Re: 5198 kHz XKO + RST?
« on: February 21, 2024, 0510 UTC »
Hopefully, this is the right place for this.
Listening between 0200 and 0430Z this date, on 5198 kHz.
Earlier CW "XKO". Checked back just now, receiving "RST".
Repeats roughly 5 seconds. ~10 wpm.

Hello and welcome to HFU!

This area of HFU is dedicated to "pirate" radio beacons and what you've found might be commercial, government or military.. I did a few quick searches and one came back as
5198 Canadian Forces Maritime Command Network Worldwide but I have not found much on CKO but what you described sounds a little like a RTTY station. I'll let a radio sit for a little while on the frequency. I won't move this post until I can see what a better place might be.

Have not heard HexY2K the past few days, which is unusual. I can normally hear it here every day.

Is it possible because it's a solar only fleapower transmitter?

Those don't sound like pirate beacons...... and should be posted here:  https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/board,35.0.html

Hi everyone
at 12200 there is a beep that transmits 24 hours a day.
could it be a beacon?

Welcome to the Forum!!

Hard to say if it's a beacon. Where are you located? What sort of radio and antenna are you using? Do you know what bandwidth the receiver is set to?Just to be sure, is that 12.2MHz and is it a weak signal or strong?  Have you checked any of the online SWL lists to see if it is a commercial transmitter? How often does the signal beep? Is it a quick "dit" or is it a longer "dash"?

Did you try any online SDRs to see if you can pick up the same thing? I looked at one SDR and did not hear anything on 12,200 KHz

Also, we keep a list here of known beacons in the sticky at the top of the topic lists   https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php/topic,9478.0.html

Looks as if the cloudy winter weather in the SouthWest is impacting solar charged beacons such as DW. This morning is the lowest battery reading I think I've ever seen in the three years it's been running.

Nice signal on the Desert Whooper here this morning before sunrise. 4095.72 KHz 11JAN24 13:39z Airspy HF+ Discovery 60ft SE/NW longwire

Telemetry sent:

A few thoughts based on the OP's description of DW.  I think the frequency would be 4095.700 KHz, centered on the CW signal, but not 4095.720KHz, centered in the middle of the whoops. The whoops start at .700 and sweep upwards. In warm weather the CW is at 4095.650

Nice! Thank you sir for the info. I have a waterfall display on my Icom as well, but I didn't see any signal next to it. Again I really don't know what I'm doing as far as beacons or number stations or Pirate Radio. Ham radio is my main Hobby, but I have a big interest in this as well.

Welcome to our corner of the hobby!

The list we maintain will be helpful with identifying beacons that are known, The post is here
