Mr. Token  :-)

Thanks for the wealth of details. I'll update our master beacon list!

HF Beacons / 4093.2 New Dasher?

I noticed this on the KFS SE Kiwi and did not see it in our master beacon list. About a 1 second dash rate. Can't hear it on my receivers at home.

I can hear DW on both of my receivers at home, Sedona Kiwi. Northern Utah Kiwi, all four KFS Kiwis.

BAT     13.7
O TMP  59
I TMP   50
PV       1958 (mA?)  This value steadily rose from a couple digits at 7:15 AM and BAt reading rose at the same time

DW was off the air for about 24 hours. Around 4pm PST today it reappeared with a “massive” signal.

Fist time I've tuned it on on the SDR and it sounds more like a woodpecker or sumthin' in CW mode.  ;D  On my home receivers
it did sound more like fast dripping water.  ;)  I played with center frequency settings and bandwidths and managed to get the "drip" sound, lol.

Very strong right now on the SE and good on the omni. Glad Rainy is still alive.

The slow dasher was originally very strong into the KFS kiwis so something changed/broke if a weak signal has been heard.

Note that the new-ish “DW” whooper not only has a whoop that’s opposite to the defunct whooper but the defunct whooper never had a Morse ID,  four different Morse telemetry streams or run 24/7......

4 MHz propagation is pretty good tonight.

I am hearing the desert whooper on the KFS Omni, Sedona and Utah kiwi SDRs

Hearing both of them here at 2238 utc.  Dasher is not as strong as the ditter at the moment.

The joys of good propagation!! I'll keep trying to catch them.

This dasher has been off the air this week.  Think I last heard it last weekend.

73, Mark

I would love to see them both on the air but .... is it a coincidence that the Dasher goes off the air and is almost immediately replaced by an equally strong signal Ditter beacon within 100Hz of the original frequency?

I’m hoping they are separate because it’s more fun for us! 👍

I'm thinking this is a permanent change from slow dash to fast ditter.

It's again very strong right now in this capture from KFS, ditting away on the right of the picture.

Left to right is the "evolved" Desert Whooper which is sending telemetry. The five slow whoops are a good visual and audible cue. Next is the slow dasher with it's tell-tale hook/rise in frequency

I'm wondering if the creator of the dasher decided to make things more lively by changing from slow dashes to the fast dits? I am realy appreciating the revitalized 4 MHz beacon spectrum.

It's very strong right now in this capture from KFS

Left to right is the "evolved" Desert Whooper which is now about 3 months old. Next is the slow dasher that may have been the Inyo WHooper in the past and then to the right is the fast ditter at 4097.29-ish

Very strong on the KFS SE kiwi SDR and decent on the KFS OMNI kiwi SDR.

More changes have crept in when I wasn't watching

six sets:  30 whoops and "DW"
1 set of 5 slow whoops and a "DW"

BAT  12.8
O TMP  54
I TMP   68
PV  O

Then a last "DW" and the cycle repeats

Am guessing that "O TMP" is outside temperature and "I TMP" is inside (of something?) temperature.

right now Windy is very strong with slow dits, TMP 82 and B at 11.9

Instead of the dasher I am hearing a strong, fast ditter on 4097.28

Format has been tweaked a little. The PV telemetry seems to have been switched from X.X Amps to xxxx mA. No longer uses a decimal point and leading zeros are dropped. So 400 mA is never sent 0400 but 2 Amps can be sent 2000

I also count seven "DW" markers, six sets of 30 whoops and one set of 5 slow whoops before telemetry in the sequence.
