INDONESIA. 7289.93, RRI Nabire. On May 30, Nabire experienced a moderate earthquake, so the station didn't go off the air today.
https://www.allquakes.com/earthquakes/quake-info/7645282/mag4quake-May-30-2023-Irian-Jaya-Region-Indonesia.html .

Marathon listening to this anomaly from RRI Nabire from tune-in at 0820 till tuned-out at 1040 UT. This is the longest
I have ever heard them staying on the air. Back on May 28, I heard them cut off at 0916*. Islamic segment today (and
28th) with Shalawat Tarhim prayer (0851-0858), followed by the Maghrib (sunset) call-to-prayer (0858-0901). Also
listening to this extended broadcast today was Art Delibert (well done!).

Shortwave Broadcast / Radio Vanuatu with new promo
« on: May 29, 2023, 1135 UTC »
VANUATU. 11835 (3rd harmonic), Radio Vanuatu, on May 29, at 0855 UT, heard a new promo for RV, with
some of their history ("proud history . . .established back in year 1966," etc.); then at 0900, actually had the
correct time ("eight o'clock") and into today's edition of "Vanuatu Focus"; especially good reception; 3945
(blocked by ham QRM), 7890 (very poor), 15780 (best ever reception, better than 7890) and 19725 (not
heard). My audio is at https://app.box.com/s/eqefvdygqfa8g8od52x1w5st1aweklsw .

Have been enjoying this station for many years! My 1980 QSL card - https://app.box.com/s/hnuulribb8isifp9fg7722s6j9sfnikf .

CHINA. 6035, "Yunnan Radio International" (PBS Yunnan), 1245-1332 UT, May 19. I don't often report on this station,
but is heard daily; in Chinese from tune-in at 1245 to 1300; ToH with readable IDs in Chinese/Vietnamese/English; next
half an hour in Vietnamese (another segment of Vietnamese is also from 1000 to 1030, otherwise it is in Chinese); 1330,
repeat of the multi-language IDs and back to being in Chinese; poor reception, but am happy to find they still use English
IDs. This is not to be confused with the Minorities Service of PBS Yunnan on 7210. Yunnan province borders Vietnam,
hence the broadcasts in Vietnamese. My local sunrise was at 1257 UT, while Kunming sunset was at 1148 UT.

VANUATU. 11835 (third harmonic of 3945), Radio Vanuatu, *0659:00 UT, May 9. This is now routinely being heard, day-after-day,
with very enjoyable reception; 3945 and 7890 only with a faint carrier and no signal today on 15780. Some of today's highlights:

0659: Suddenly on with a C&W Kenny Rogers song; commercial announcement for a local hardware store, selling construction
material.

0700-0714: ID/frequencies/local time check; news/sports in Bislama (lead story about the delegation from Indonesia arriving at
the Vanuatu International Airport and greeted by Vanuatu's PM and the Foreign Affairs Minister of Vanuatu; delegation arrived
with two planes, to help with the relief efforts still going on as a result of the two recent cyclones [news item from the Indonesian
press - https://en.antaranews.com/news/280965/indonesia-sends-assistance-to-vanuatu-aboard-two-charter-planes-bnpb ]; item
about human rights in West Papua; etc.).

0720: Weather in Bislama for the many various provinces; the weather today and outlook for tomorrow; followed by Island music.
My six minute audio is at https://app.box.com/s/lwwt5113ycql6ol70l9e35ebnsi37r5i .

0732: PSA from the Department of Water Resources with a long list of items to do preparing for and during a cyclone (boil water,
have solar panels, check that water is safe to use, have a water tank, listen to the radio for updates, report water damage, etc.).

0736-0816: Sports interview about "football" and mentioning the "Port Vila Football Association."

0829: Indigenous drums/horns intro to the Radio Vanuatu promo; followed by a program about a water recovery project.

INDONESIA. 7289.93, RRI Nabire, 0805 till cut off at 0859* UT, April 10. Tuned in to do my usual monitoring
of RRI, but for the first time ever, had strong off frequency QRM. Tuned down to 7285 to hear an extremely
strong station; RRI only heard when UNID went silent; mostly just announcers (due to Ramadan) and some
music; very poor to poor.

UNID. 7285 AM, assume a pirate? Transmitter on and off; played non-stop rock songs; never heard any
announcer; very strong signal on April 10.

0805-0808* UT; *0810-0813*; *0821-0828*; *0829* test tone; did not return till *0850-0852*; *0853-0858*.

Echo of Hope - VOH - at 1153 UT, on April 6. The usual weekday EBS TV audio feed for the English language lesson
("Wang cho bo yeong-eo" - Beginner's English); "Thank you for helping me," "Make yourself at home." Still with a four
hour program loop, repeating the same shows every 4 hours; 3985 // 4885 // 5995 // 6250 // 6350 (good) // 7720 (the best!).

COLOMBIA. 6010, LV de tu Conciencia, 0545-0640 UT, on April 6. Reactivated after a considerable absence (Easter
is almost here!); mostly non-stop eclectic selections of music and songs; of course many LA songs, but also noted
a Viennese Waltz of Johann Strauss (my audio - https://app.box.com/s/4zrxddfoyleaoluf2aps841pwwjaq839 ) and a song
by Bob Dylan. There was a lot of QRN tonight, so I was not able to make out what the brief announcers said, but
assume the station ID? Wonderful to have this Colombian station back again!

Thanks very much to Rafael Rodríguez R. (QSL Manager < rafaelcoldx@yahoo.com >) for the quick reply to my reception
report. Am very happy with the confirmation of my reception!

- - - posted to WORiog today (March 28):
Hi group,

A station in Korean has an extended service on 7355 kHz since 26 March. I can hear in on various Japanese Kiwi SDRs
starting at 1200, it lasts until 1400 and beyond. Mostly easy talks and South Korean singers. Due to some family duties,
can't listen or record the sign-on at 1200 exact.

No such entry in the KBS A23 sked. Any hint? BBC Korean via PHT is only registered here after 1530 (HFCC data).

Dmitry

Clandestine Stations / Korea: March 23-24, 2023
« on: March 25, 2023, 0631 UTC »

KOREA SOUTH: Echo of Hope - VOH. Thanks to the timely alert from Hiroyuki Komatsubara (Japan), I was able to
hear the new VOH frequency of 7720 kHz. (ex: 9100), on both March 23 & 24.

https://app.box.com/s/fw9sl8utq1mp5w5u86zx0d37pah49pcn contains my recording made March 24, at 1150 UT; the
closing segment of the "Wang cho bo yeong-eo" (translated into English - Beginner's English) TV program; the show
started at 1124 (and closes) with their theme song - "Party Will Come Alive" by Wizardz Of Oz (with Ruben Martinez);
same program broadcast both days; also // to the usual 3985 // 4885 // 5995 // 6250 // 6350. Are they back to six
frequencies now or is there a seventh frequency someplace? Also heard this same program on March 23, at 1524 till
1553 UT; confirming their four hour program loop.

Voice of the People, 3910 kHz., start of a program at 1417 UT, March 23; heard after the news ("bodo"); also // 3480
// 3930 // 4450 // 4560 // 6520 // 6600 kHz. My audio - https://app.box.com/s/vbaumduw3ao17hui610ah5tkqov64089 .

Voice of Freedom, 5920 kHz. March 23 recordings:

1430 UT -  "Aneun geos-i him-ida" (Knowing is power) - https://app.box.com/s/yyawsqf6j59yz30b5w3zgp9w31py976e .

1500 - ID & "Bodo gwangjang" (News plaza) - https://app.box.com/s/bip7vdymnjp3pxtzv7rxge3czr96eiex .

VOF March 24 recording:

1115 UT - "Ingwon baloalgi" (Getting to know human rights) - https://app.box.com/s/cxa2dn7mu94nuuv6dqlistwg8yq78xer .

KOREA SOUTH: Echo of Hope - VOH, heard on 4885 // 6250 // 9100 kHz., at 0730 UT, March 5 (Sunday), continuing from
where they left off yesterday, with the weekend reading of a portion of Chapter 12 of "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone,"
along with lengthy explanations in Korean.

March 7 - Echo of Hope - VOH. Just as the Voice of the People recently added a new, seventh frequency (4560), now
VOH has also added a new, seventh frequency on 7640 kHz. to their list of active frequencies (3985 // 4885 // 5995
// 6250 // 6350 // 7640 // 9100 kHz.), as first noted by Hiroyuki Komatsubara (Japan), back on Feb 26. Today (March 7) was
the first day I have heard it, so I believe they have either been intermittently testing this frequency since Feb or it has been
on at different times than when I usually listened for it?

Today hear from tune in at 1533 UT till the end of the weekday only program at 1552; heard with the audio feed from a TV
program called "Wang cho bo yeong-eo" (translated into English - Beginner's English); with presenters "Mayu" and "Mini";
and ending with the usual intro and exit theme song - "Party Will Come Alive" by Wizardz Of Oz (with Ruben Martinez);
reception on the new frequency was very good. My audio is at https://app.box.com/s/hyndku2all69vj6395pi70i2k5oajp2v .

My February 13 (Monday) observations:

KOREA SOUTH. Echo of Hope - VOH, has NOT changed frequencies for a month now; heard at 1316 UT with an
anomaly of not as much jamming as usual; 5995 // 6250 // 6350 and 9100, were all fair-good with no jamming and
3985 // 4885 were poor with jamming. VOP, with the usual 3480 // 3910 // 3930 // 4450 // 4560 // 6520 // 6600 kHz.

Voice of Freedom, 6045, at 1325 UT, with “Ulisoli hanmadang“ (Our sound festival) program of indigenous music;
I rather enjoy this unique music and today heard it with an exceptionally strong signal. My six minute audio is posted
at https://app.box.com/s/h0cxh8nwe6ue33laaasatni5sfb6m9c4 . At 1600 the good VOF reception was killed by the
start of a strong signal from Furusato no kaze.
