Equipment / Re: Any Elecraft KX3 owners?

Will the K3 operate on MARS frequencies?

For those needing to transmit outside the ham bands for MARS and/or other requirements, a program is available from  k3support@elecraft.com.  Running this program one time allows you to remove the standard TX lockouts.  (note the KBPF3 is also required for our operation significantly away from the band edges.) Operators are cautioned that they are responsible for operating within the limits of their license.  Also, with the TX limits removed, high-power TX is still  not possible in the 27 MHz band.

General coverage receive filters can be added to the main receiver and/or the subreceiver. This is the KBP3 option. The rig automatically selects the narrow ham-band filters when you're in the ham bands, and the wider filters when you're in-between ham bands. This option has no effect on ham-band performance and is extremely easy to install.

I know BS was cranked up last week (in the spirit) and seemed to be on more freqs than ever. And when the old turd croaks they will have replays for ever ala Gene Scott. At least Scott went out with a bang marrying the porn star and all.

Depending on the IF frequency you might get away with even a cheap dongle.  I use one on a Yaesu radio but first IF is at about 68 MHz. With an IF at say 10 MHz an sdrplay or another with a down converter would have to be used.

I would guess a mixing product of radio Australia probably caused by the dipole putting just a bit to much signal into the receiver.

Anyone catch the SSTV at the end?

Good signal into N. Maryland some QSB. Good audio.

Talking about Prometheus Project and LP radio, http://www.prometheusradio.org/

Hard to beat for the price. If you get one try using it with sdr console.

53
Either Tecsun. Or maybe a down converter for your RTL, or the one of the combo Rtl/converters on Amazon Or eBay. EBay might be cheaper.

7200 Khz appox. music, talk, USB at 1320Z. Thought it might be a SW bcst but not sure. SIO 222

Unfortunately, at work and listening on a Grundig G4000A with a hunk of wire. And it could just malicious Ham interference from another Ham as well.
