The station was also audible here in Austria this afternoon with a weak signal. Is there any contact known ?

Clandestine Stations / Re: Radio Dandal Kura name change
« on: February 28, 2018, 1844 UTC »
Hi !

Obviously not a name change.
At 1820 UTC Feb 28th on 12050 kHz I can hear Ndarason Radio Int. with Afro-mx, Talk and ID AND weak in the background Dandal Kura Radio Int. in // to the stream on their web page. No idea if this is a technical problem, or some sort of "radio-war".

Yes and my understanding is that the English was indeed OMN shaking the jammers because by 1609z the jammers left & the BX switched to regular OMN BX

Donīt think that this was made by intention. Spaceline is well known for putting the wrong programme on air - that happend often in the past and have been regularly reported by a former Radio Bulgaria engineer in his logs at: http://swldxbulgaria.blogspot.com/
throughout the past years.

Hi !

Might be Radio OMN (Oromia Media Network). Language sounds Eastern African. I heard them on Sunday on 11600 kHz with good signal in Austria, but with Ethiopian noise jammer in the background. When checked today I couldnīt hear any signal from them neither on 11600 nor on known alternate frequency 11575 kHz. But I didnīt checked the frequencies in between.

Hi !

Clear ID "NHK World Radio Nippon" at the beginning of your recording, so you can assume that it was legal broadcast. Although I could find any information about 6100 kHz used by NHK on for regular broadcasts in A17. But maybe some special live transmission frequency. Sorry, but I canīt say anything about the event from what they were broadcasting - I donīt speak Japanese too.

Hi Matt !

Could it be WQAL487 (instead of 847) ?

Manasquan, NJ would be nearby Sea Grit, NJ

I presume the activity heard on 6784 kHz USB and then 6800 kHz USB is related to this exercise?
Yes, those are ExNS17 frequencies too.

Quote
Do you have any other information regarding which frequencies are/were in use and/or callsign information?
Yes. The organiser is publishing it in the web.  ;)

Itīs more like a contest than a real military exercise.

Hi !

Another interesting information found here:
http://crmf.org/about-crmf/goals/

CRMF uses 12 HF SSB frequencies to provide two-way radio communications to more than 900 Churches and Mission Stations across Papua New Guinea and on many of the surrounding islands. Our staff at Goroka Base monitors 24 hours a day for urgent radio calls for assistance of any kind. We are able to obtain:
•    speedy medical advice
•    contact the police for their assistance
•    contact Civil Aviation
•    or simply pass a message.

Hi !

I found a manual from 1999 for radio operations of Pioneer Bible Translators Association in PNG:
www.pbtpng.org/wp-content/uploads/polpro/radio51.pdf

Maybe you can check down-under if some of the info there (times/frequencies) is still usable ?

P2-A338 is mentioned there as a non-PBT station. So there seem to be (or a least has been) more of thse religious nets there.

I have never heard ARA Karachi Radio Volmet from Pakistan on any of the HF Volmet frequencies, have you?  Listened various times, day/night/Grey Line etc but zero.  Maybe they have ceased and handed over to someone else to give out their information.

I heard them 2 or 3 times, itīs a very rare catch. As signal was always good when I heard them here in AUT, it seems they are on-air very, very irregular - maybe only on request.

So do they just own the Nauen site then act as a broker for airtime on other stations for what they don't have the capacity for?
Yes, or if another site would be better to reach a atrget area.

And one more question, what exactly is Shortwaveservice? The way I understand is they have their own 1 kilowatt site at Kall, but on their website it sounds like they also transmit programming from Nauen, Moosbrunn, and I believe one other side,
Shortwaveservice:
  * operates low power transmitters in Kall on 3985 / 6005 / 6085 / 7310 kHz
  * brokering airtime mostly via own transmitters, Bulgaria and some CIS sites
  * producing a monthly media magazine in German language broadcasted via Nauen, own transmitters and sometimes also via other sites
