How hard would it be to make it active during dawn to dusk?
And if so would there be any benefit?

I think there are a few hf radars that precede their blast with a doppler correction tone thingy. Where's token when we need him?

Hi Zazz, I noted some typos in your wiki;
singla = signal
smoth = smooth
ferrit = ferrite
(tripple) = (triple)
collecor = collector
thefore = therefore
it's it's = its
ferrit = ferrite
Ops, this escallated = Oops, this escalated
escallated = escalated

Can't help it, the editor in me came out. Really nice beacon you have there, the board and parts are elegantly arranged.

:D

Huzzah for a privateer that plays primus!

Highly secret as it's the kiwi version of Pine Gap.

Surely this is a wrap music pirate station.

Ah Shakespeare, that rascal.

"My wit's diseased!"
Hamlet

The single loop sounds nice, and I know how well they work. Just before my HAM ticket came in the mail I'd thumbtack'd a wire loop for 6m on the bedroom wall, fed at a bottom corner with coax. The day the license came was a vhf contest and propagation was coast to coast. 3 watts from one of these; http://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/930

On the lines of cb antennae, think I'll just get a decent mobile cb ant and mount it in place of the stinger on the disconey. Thanks for the input.

General Radio Discussion / Re: August Eclipse
« on: June 16, 2017, 1942 UTC »

I have a co-worker that worked in Casper, Wyoming for awhile before returning to Connecticut.  He told me that former work associates have invited him to stay with them in Casper to watch.  You cannot get a hotel room for hundreds of miles of Casper which should be ground zero of the eclipse.  He also said that the local Casper airport has already reached its limit of 200 private jets flying in for the event.

Wish I had the cash where I could take my private jet and go watch the eclipse in various places around the USA.

August 21, 2017 is the day to be listening or recording vlf thru lower hf for unusual propagation. An eclipse can do funny things to propa.

Perhaps your Francophone stations will be French pirate HAMs.
