Romanian language tx to Western Europe, not a strong signal but low noise and good prop allowing for what sounds like an 80s-style rock song coming across with the very-rare-to-report SIO of 253.

Very strong SIO 555 signal this morning (8:15 locally) with male speakers in interview format. Sudanese Arabic per online schedules, and Sant Maria di Galeria (Vatican City) tx.
1524 copied the English word "mobilization" in the otherwise Arabic speech

Very, VERY faint music peaking up at the noise level occasionally.
2237 haven't heard anything for about five minutes now. Glad for the little bit that I got.

I started listening at 2000 and had absolutely nothing here in Michigan.  I checked back an hour later and had a very faint USB signal just slightly below the nominal frequency.  It sounds better on 15475.950.   The signal has been getting gradually stronger and it's now 2349 UTC and it's quite listenable here with nice music, occasional IDs and announcements.

Awesome.

2255 Trying to copy again, there may be something but it's possibly just wishful thinking. Unlike earlier, when I definitely had audio.

2310 hearing it again for real, just a bit stronger than it was the first time. Thanks for the tip about the fine tuning.
2314 faint OM voice
2331 music, so definitely not off the air. Looks like 15475.96 is the best frequency for me
2339 now it seems to be QRT. Nothing heard for a minute.

2358 seems to be back. Thanks to myteaquinn who posted that on the HFU discord.

Copied on VR2KJ kiwi sdr in Hong Kong. I was looking for VC01 (The Chinese Robot) at 4452 USB and found that, but also this. This is a South Korean tx aimed at North Korea that's jammed, and the jammer is audible in VC01's signal. China perhaps should have chosen to go just a couple of kHz higher in the band with this one this month. Korean talk copyable under the jammer but it's probably hard to understand if you know the language.

Very rough copy, SIO 111, but copyable enough. This may be my first real catch of BBC from this tx site.

0342 found this randomly scanning the bands, playing "Flashdance - What a Feeling" Irene Cara, SIO 222
0345 possible station ID but I couldn't make it out. More music, something from The Phantom of the Opera.

The signal's pretty wide, so this may be Mix Radio. It also has that bit on the LSB side. Pretty characteristic signal.

0354 "Blue Bayou" Linda Ronstadt
...  Thanks to Markokpik and MTQ for picking up the ID ...
0431 back to listening, hearing the tail end of Gerry Rafferty "Baker Street"
0432 probable ID, but still too rough for me to pick it out myself. Into "Dreams" Fleetwood Mac
0441 "Breakfast in America" Supertramp

Still broadcasting as of 0530z.
0533 seems to have gone off the air

Strong copy into Denver this evening from this Arctic Sea naval station (not far from Scandinavia). I've only given passing interest to Russian letter beacons before, in part because I got into this hobby when the last solar cycle was declining and I'm pretty sure I've never found one when I went looking. Though I didn't look very hard TBH. But nice steady recognizable letter S copied now.

Pretty sure these are counted as utility signals, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Wrexham v. Sheffield United, a bit different from the usual big dogs of the Premier League, but no less passionate. SIO 333.

0058 Moving to 4015 (in spite of Skipmuck's and Sparkyzilla's reports)
0100 keying up at 4015
0101 Testing 1 2 3 (barely audible >:()
0102 Wolverine Radio ID into "Lazy Weather" California Ramblers (listening via Smolinski SDR in MD)
0105 "It's Easy to Blame the Weather" Billie Holiday, Teddy Wilson & His Orchestra
0108 "Winter Weather" various artists (I can name the tune but Shazam can't do any better than this for artist ID)
0110 Wolverine ID
0111 "Stormy Weather" artist unknown
Other songs broadcast were "Rainy Weather Blues" Ray Brown, "The Weather's Stormy" Tommy Lampkin, "Bad Weather" Poco, "Bad Weather" The Supremes, "Emotional Weather Report" Tom Waits, "Couldn't Stand the Weather" Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble, "Change in the Weather" John Fogerty, "Like the Weather" 10,000 Maniacs, and more.

Posting almost an hour into the show, but this is the tx that occurs at the same time as the old Nauen tx, so the one most likely to fill the hole left by their change in transmitters (especially for folks like me out west, where this will be a more dependable signal than Nauen ever was, at least given the fact that they liked to stay on 49m September through April when using that site). SIO 444 overall.

Shortwave Broadcast / RWM, 9996 kHz CW, 28 JAN 2023, 0214 UTC
« on: January 28, 2023, 0216 UTC »
I've caught RWM this evening and the few preceding, and also at 14996 kHz during daylight hours between Moscow and Denver, but quite strong this evening, RST 479 I'd say. Making a note because up til this year, this was a sign of springtime propagation. Generally this isn't a station I can catch in winter.

119
0200 nice strong signal, unlike the old tx from Nauen which was always variable even when it was good. Looking at WRMI's programming grid, I think they're airing just one hour tonight and the second hour tomorrow at the same time and frequency.

Carrying Tottenham Hotspur-Arsenal match (English Premier League), SIO 333.
1642 "Arsenal nil, Tottenham nil"
1644 "It's in!" Can't tell which player scored. Tottenham 0 - 1 Arsenal.
