Testing 1 2 3

Next Day Edit: Despite the fact that I started this post, I was on my way out for the night and had to wait til this morning to listen to the SDR recording. Signal started out good but faded a lot by the end. I managed to copy a halfway decent SSTV, though. Thanks for the show!

Nice signal here.

Shortwave Broadcast / IRRS Milano, 11575 AM, 1655 UTC, 26 JAN 2018
« on: January 26, 2018, 1709 UTC »
Copied while checking uTwente web SDR for an unknown transmission on 11600. (I could faintly hear 11600 at home, suspected European tx, and went to uTwente for a better copy). Fairly positive that there was no signal at 11575 before 1655, but I can't swear to it.

Anyway, from 1655 to 1658 it was playing Middle Eastern sounding music, which I took for an interval signal, but at 1658 it suddenly switched to "Green Onions" by Dual Drive. OM announced IRRS Milano in English, gave a physical mailing address for reception reports, then went QRT at 1700. There is no listing for this station being on at this frequency at that time (in fact, there's no listing for any station at any time for that frequency), and they have no scheduled test transmissions per their web page. So, fairly interesting catch.

My best copy of V24 yet. The broadcast lasted until 1512, but since I'm using the free version of bandicam the recording cut off at 10 minutes. Unfortunately I had just come in (have to take the kids to school right before 1500z) and had no time to set up bandwidth, filters, etc to get the best SNR, so there's a lot of tweaking going on for the first four minutes or so.

Pretty rough copy into Denver, so no video links this time, but an unusual catch. RRI is on the frequency every day at 1700 it seems, but on Sundays only, they switch to Hebrew at 1705 and stay there for the remainder of the hour. Pretty sure this is my first Hebrew language copy by any broadcast.

Found this scanning the bands. It was not on any schedule, but Studio 52 ID heard at 1843z. Thanks to HFU member "sigma" (his name is actually rendered as the Greek letter) in the Ryver chat, who found their website which indicates that they have irregular broadcasts and were on today from Issoudun for a North American audience. Signal was S6-S7 here in Denver.

Approximately 0005 "Straight Outta Compton" NWA into "Godzilla" Blue Oyster Cult, off midsong at 0007.
0016 back on with "Come As You Are" Nirvana

Fairly strong signal here in Denver. I have little idea what they're saying, but there are at least two OM conversing casually.
EDIT: Looking down the logs, I see that this frequency was active just two days earlier. Still active as of 1626 UTC.

Kind of like the legendary white whale, I wasn't sure this broadcast actually existed. But I'm getting a poor to fair copy this morning. Apparently it's a standup comedy format via I heart Radio. There's a station like that in Denver, probably the same thing.
