Thanks for the post, am listening now on 17830 (of the three Ascension frequencies currently in use, this seems to have the best SNR).
1801 have had to switch to 15400 due to other frequencies going QRT, but signal is JBA.

3062
Decent signal strength for the carrier, but possibly undermodulated on Westminster MD kiwi SDR. Accordion music I think. Thanks for the show!

3063
No signal out west but very solid on Westminster MD kiwi SDR. OM with Radio Olah ID at 1541 UTC into music.
1547 "All the Young Dudes"
1550 OM on the mic talking about the songs played and the Super Bowl
1554 next song
1559 OM on the mic. Hit the top of the hour for the first time.
1601 "Sukiyaki"
1604 next song
1607 OM talking about Hoyt Axton and when he was on WKRP  (I thought of that instantly when I saw Skipmuck ID the song, Olah).
1608 OM saying it would be great if the following song were played at the halftime show, into the Green Beret song.
1611 next song
1614 "Should I Stay Or Should I Go" The Clash
1617 OM back on, saying that there won't be QSL's today because he has to pack up and go once finished broadcasting. Explained that he uses an old 286 program to send QSL's so they're not personalized. Can't say "Super Bowl" so he calls it the Big Game, LOL.
1619 "Yesterday's Numbers"
1623 next song
1626 next song
1629 OM explaining last song was just Sonny, not Cher.
1631 hit the bottom of the hour.... all that money spent at the Columbia School of Broadcasting is paying off. Into next song.
1635 next song
1644 signal just faded away suddenly

I don't think it went QRT.... but one minute the signal was good and the next just a trace. Thanks for the show Olah!

General Radio Discussion / Re: A couple of newbie questions
« on: February 03, 2019, 1505 UTC »
I suggest that, if you're on Facebook, joining one of the shortwave groups there. Just three years ago I was in exactly the same position as you, didn't know anything about the technical aspects of shortwave, intimidated by the jargon, etc. I can testify that there's no real book out there for SWLing. My earliest information was contained in the user's manual that came with my first SW receiver, a Tecsun PL-600. From there, google was largely my friend. I found videos on youtube. (Look for "Official SWL Channel" for some very good beginner's information videos.) I found this group, which I joined and which introduced me to the fun of pirate radio. And I found the aforementioned shortwave groups on Facebook. Basically you have to ask a lot of questions and take in a lot of video and things do come piecemeal, however if it's really got you hooked, you'll learn quickly. Welcome!

2112 Have it on Chris' Kiwi SDR, where it's significantly off frequency (will have to play around to get the tuning better) but good signal strength. Thanks for the show!

2138 Radio Gaga ID and email
2138 Monkees "Last Train to Clarksville"
2141 SSTV
2143 off the air

Huh? / Re: Trackdown Trump
« on: February 02, 2019, 1635 UTC »
I moved to Seattle in 1998 and I remember seeing Kurt Cobain Was Murdered on public access. And while the show is no longer on the air, Richard Lee is still around, as I saw him recently shopping in a local grocery store. No, I didn't acknowledge his presence...

That guy looked like hell 20 years ago. How is he making ends meet, I wonder? He had been an actual print journalist at one time before he was consumed by his Cobain obsession. Then again, one has to wonder how he got by back then as well. Perhaps a trust fund.

EDIT: The last time HM01 transmitted a normal, progressed series of number sets from the previous days' sets, as opposed to either repeating them without progression or transmitting a completely new set of numbers and files, was 03 NOV 2018, after which those same numbers and files were repeated without variation until 14 JAN 2019.

Spy Numbers / V24 logs, February 2019
« on: February 01, 2019, 1603 UTC »
On 1st February, there was no transmission at the usual frequency/time of 6310 kHz AM at 1530 UTC. So more of a non-log in this case. I checked on the "soy sauce" kiwi SDR in Chiba, Japan and the KPH kiwi SDR at Point Reyes, California, along with my own Rx. No carrier or any other copyable phone transmission detected.

The hairstylists have a term for the stalinist cut, "blockiness".

Once a guy has reached a certain age and still has hair, it seems to devolve into a stalinesque blockiness and the stylist must be persuaded to round off that blockiness or stalin appears. Then of course there's the brezhnev eyebrows, only outdone by that guy with the moth eyebrows that sold the blending machines on tv.

I have been warned to watch my own eyebrows, lest I come to resemble Juiceman. Not that I'm really in any danger, but nothing freaks the XYL out as much as an abnormally long eyebrow hair.
