Spy Numbers / Re: V24 new schedule?
« on: October 25, 2016, 1613 UTC »
It appears that today (10/25) V24 did transmit on 5150 at 1430z. (I forgot to tune in, but it's highlighted on the chart at this link.) But it did not transmit on 5900 at 1600z (and I was online at a few different SDR's to confirm that).

0200 SIO 111 to 222.
0214 SIO up to 333 with fades.
0222 suddenly off?

Thanks for the show!

0158 Very faint, deep in the static, but detectable.
0202 Radio Zed CW ID.

Did you fellas notice an increase in the signal from when you first heard it?

not really, it's still extremely faint as of 0209.
0218 still virtually no signal. It's interesting zed, because earlier I was getting Wolverine so strong that I actually turned down the RF gain and applied attenuation, and STILL got +20 peaks. Meanwhile some people said they were only barely hearing them. Maybe I'm in a similar hole where your signal is concerned.

If you hear a guy proclaiming himself "Captain Dave" over and over, you've got a ham who likes to haunt that frequency and play music. His call is KI4THY.
0151 hearing weak music.

Utility / possible MARS net, 6935 USB
« on: October 23, 2016, 0012 UTC »
Hearing occasional military-sounding voice transmissions since 2300 on 10/22/16. Last transmission heard around 2347z.
EDIT 0106z - Token reports it's possibly from Fort Irwin California and not a MARS net.

5276
2327 I can tell there's a carrier here, but that's all.

5277
2318 faint copy of what sounds like Native American music perhaps, maybe?

SDR - Software Defined Radio / Re: Thinking of getting a SDR
« on: October 22, 2016, 1743 UTC »
I do not own an SDR, however, I have been considering this closely as I do intend to get one, once my mini whip is finally up. (Who knew decent masts could be so expensive.) And I will get an SDRPlay because it sounds like a great entry-level unit, it's inexpensive, and it has lots of online support. Also it sounds like there are some different software packages available to use. Just my two cents.

0248 Nice piano and clarinet jazz.
0258 OM Radio Zed Station ID, email address, CW, and sign off at 0259

0337 still audible but the fade outs are lasting longer.

Thanks for the show! Signal is up and down but a decent 333 when up and not being QRM'd by radar.

2325 SIO 111/222 New Order song.
2327 SIO 222 more solid now. "Tres Delinquentes" Delinquent Habits per shazam
2331 "World A Music" Ini Kamoze per shazam
2337 new reggae tune, shazam not cooperating
2345 "Party of the Mind" The Sound per shazam
2348 new tune, shazam not cooperating
2355 XLR8 ID into new tune. Signal is okay but noise floor is very high, making for rough copy.
0101 gotta go, catch you next time!

Thanks for the show!

Hey XLR8, how about Killdozer's cover of "Nasty" tonight? :D
