0120 Strong signal here. Thanks for the show! (edit, if this is jamming Ballsmacker, well, that's not nice. I do see a carrier but can't hear anything in either sideband save for this station.)
0142 tuned into the middle of "Where Is My Mind" The Pixies
0145 SSTV (ballsmacker?)

0146 "F**k Off" Tierra Whack (which began during the SSTV, so I think the SSTV definitely was Ballsmacker's

Shortwave Broadcast / Re: WWCR off the air - any idea why?
« on: August 29, 2022, 1630 UTC »
All that hot air from fire and brimstone preaching finally wore a hole in the atmosphere?

Wasn't HAARP supposed to do that? Maybe this is a more efficient way to heat the ionosphere.

713
At 1659 this broadcast went QRT, but it was very strong at this same Canary Island QTH on 17780 so I switched to that frequency. (Also copyable on 17830 but not as well, SIO 444 or so.) Match ended at 1726 UTC, Nottingham Forest 0 - 2 Tottenham Hotspur, both goals from Harry Kane (who was also denied on a penalty shot for only the fourth time in his Premier League career - respect to Forest's goalie because Kane's one of those guys you might as well tally the goal upon his being awarded the shot).

I tried but nothing here today including the very dependable 21630.

I told my son, I'm buying his son a Haaland jersey......he's blond, moves around alot, and 2 1/2 feet tall   ;D.

Excellent idea.

The sun's been giving us a continuous M-class solar flare since 1556 so it's no wonder that frequency isn't coming through. It went QRT at 1659 anyway, and I'm now on 17780 at that Canary Island SDR. Great SIO 555 signal there now (1702z)

715
With the current radio blackout occurring, I found an SDR copying this relay from Ascension is coming in well to this QTH. Right now there's some other football (soccer) reporting in between periods at the Nottingham Forest - Tottenham Hotspur match.

1632 match resumes

716
Signal is rather low and hard to copy at my home QTH, but it's very good at Token's kiwi SDR in the Mojave, and Harry Kane just scored to make it Forest 0 - 1 Spurs at 1535 (also the fifth minute of the match).

http://tokenradio.proxy.kiwisdr.com:8073/

1547 Signal is now decent, a bit low but copyable, at my QTH. But I'll probably stick with the kiwi SDR for now since it's SIO 555 there.
1605 An M-class solar flare is in effect, signal is noticeably weaker (SIO 222 or so) at Token's SDR and it's just a carrier for me now.
1609 signal is at the noise level now at Token's QTH.
1616 below the noise now. I can still tell the match is happening so there's a bit of stoppage time playing out for the first half.

The hamsters aren't going to be happy about this development. There's a 40 meter net on 7245 lsb.

RNZ has been sitting on 7245 since their frequency change off 9700 about mid-June.  RNZ has made some scheduling adjustments this week as we roll past the peak of the A22 season https://www.rnz.co.nz/international/listen, but 7245 remains a constant. 5980 hasn't been received here yet, maybe this weekend?

One advantage of being out west is that those low frequency broadcasts from RNZI are copyable here, at least for the first hour or so. (Currently replaying my SDR recording of RNZ Saturday Night Requests, since 7pm-12 midnight there is 1-6 am here, at least while we're on DST and they're on standard time.)

The hamsters aren't going to be happy about this development. There's a 40 meter net on 7245 lsb.

Hopefully the people who manage nets in that range where 40 and 41m overlap have backup frequencies planned. It can happen anywhere in that range. Mornings here in the west, that part of the band fills up mostly with Chinese (but also a few other east Asian) AM signals. I don't think it's as intense for eastern listeners, though it may be in winter when sunset in the west Pacific precedes dawn in eastern North America.

720
The signal was good here all evening. Seemed to be gone by around 0500 - I was monitoring loosely. Thanks for the show.
