I was doing some other things when I saw an
interesting looking signal on 6910. I clicked on it
but didn't even scribble a quick note so I'm
guessing at the time - note to self: next time
at least grab a screenshot so you will have a
timestamp!

~2330 - electronic mx, sounded like mostly beeps
and bops, similar to R2-D2 sounds put to
mx. I may have heard an ID of "Robot Radio"???
A good signal here but was gone by ~2350 or so.
I'm surprised no one else noted this one but
the time was around dinner and evening nx time.

"Who are you?" :)

Thanks for morning entertainment :)

0300 - While I was doing other things, rcvr was sitting on 6925,
someone came on and and played electronic versions
of ~3 Christmas mx and then was gone. No ID or anything
else. Total airtime of only 5 - 10 minutes. A good signal into
here. Thanks to whoever you were...

1301 - Reveille 2X, weak but above noise level
1303 - "Star Spangled Banner"
1304 - "Hail to the Chief"
1305 - Medley of US Forces theme songs
1307 - Brief words by OM but couldn't catch what was said
1308 - Sousa marches
1312 - Serious fading
1318 - Sig coming up again
Thanks for Veteran's Day show

1331 - "Star Spangled Banner" followed by what sounded like OM ID
but again, too weak to make out ID; then s/off?

Equipment / Do it TO yourself RFI !
« on: October 14, 2017, 1937 UTC »
Late last year, I was in Home Depot (it’s not a proper weekend without at least one trip to Home Depot and / or Lowe’s) and bought a Halloween light that was on sale at half price ($10); it projects the likeness of witches flying around on, on the side of your house. It is a #1001 261 470 “Whirl-A-Motion” projector; they had similar ones that projected ghosts or jack-o-lanterns. Yesterday evening I thought Friday the 13th would be a good day to set it up for the first time, in the front yard. That was easy enough to do and it was interesting to watch. I came inside and noticed that there was terrible noise from at least 75 meters until it finally disappeared into the S7 noise floor ~8 mHz (see attached screenshot).  I thought of what might cause it; I was pretty sure it was something nearby and I unplugged the projector and the noise went away! I’m not going to fool with trying a toroid on the power cord; I guess that projector will go into the pile of "it seemed like a good idea at the time".

HF Mystery Signals / UNID ~10,600 – 12,400 kHz
« on: October 14, 2017, 0246 UTC »
I have noticed this signal for at least 6 months. I am guessing that it is some sort of sounding transmission. The signal seems to be on 24 hours / day and I don’t see much change in signal strength. It’s kind of pleasant to listen to; reminds me of musical rain drops plinking down.

There is a period, end of one cycle to end of the next cycle, of ~4 minutes, 3 seconds. As the end of a cycle approaches, the “plinks” get stronger, shorter, and occur at an increasing rate.

I don’t think it’s a local signal and surely someone else has heard / seen it but I didn’t find anything similar when I skimmed other postings in this section. I am going to post a screenshot here that was made 11oct17 at 181105 UTC and then I will reply to myself and post an mp3 recording made on 12oct17 at 150335 UTC on; this is the last 15 seconds or so of a cycle.

1430 - "Stars and Stripes Forever". I thought maybe it was
a s/on but that was all I heard, then it was off.
Sig was ~48-9 with some deep QSB.

Thanks, whoever you were!

1450+ Intermittent. Someone retransmitting various sigs.
I've heard religious, 2 way, and even WLO in CW.
I guess op is too lame for any original programming.
Sometimes on freq, sometimes off freq. About S5

1808 - "Waltzing Matilda" by OM
1811 - OM ID "Downunder Radio"; S7 - 9,
gud sig for this time of day. QRN
has decreased - for the moment.

Thanks for good but short programme. :)

Started out in AM, then off and back w/better sig in USB
Seems to be playing short, simple IS loop. Maybe 0100 s/on???
0055 - Much better sig "Waltzing Matilda"??? R. Australia s/on?
0100 - OM vocal "Waltzing Matilda" for sure.

Thanks mate!

Thanks OZDXer, that might be what it was. I'll miss R. Australia, even though
I haven't listened to it in ages. Way "Back in the day", I would get up on a
cold, frosty morning, turn on my trusty National NC-240 (not the D model)
to take the chill off the room and listen to R. Australia while getting ready
for school. :)

1905 - strong digital / image sig but can't ID the mode
Wish I would have thought to click record...

1911 - more and I did record part of it. Sounds similar
to MFSK32, multi-tone for sure but still no joy. :(
Also, I corrected the time to UTC

"Who Can It Be?" by The Police followed by

Thanks to whoever. :)

Rcvd today for posting on HFU.

RGG's comment about the display of GaGa in the waterfall:
"Thanks for logging my station on HFU, gotcha on the waterfall ID image.
On dsb it tx's 2 images side by side, first image backwards. after that I sent in usb for 1 proper image."

Thanks GaGa

1950 - Sounds like replaying of Public Safety comms but can't ID where
Weak sig, only ~1 S unit above noise

Update @ 2002 - Sig improving, pretty sure I heard female dispatcher mention Broward county
Maybe from current nx about shooting @ Ft. Lauderdale airport?
